I was thinking the 5/16" would be what I needed to ratchet down the posts on my lithium batteries, but the opening in the wrench is too small. Too bad, because this tool feels really nice in the hand and looks to be a good one.

This in vehicle is very handy for the person that knows how to change a battery. Small enough to just keep in the glove box.

I had one of these for over 30 years, my trusty Pittsburgh 5/16" Side Terminal Battery Wrench. Well "HAD" is the operative. My 22 year old son borrowed it to help a friend change out his battery and left it behind somewhere, so I had to order a replacement. I actually ordered two as I have a small fifteen car collection, all GM, with a lot of side terminal batteries. So having a dedicated spare is a good plan.Quality appears to be the same as the one I purchase in the mid 1980s, which was recently lost. Highly recommend these over a 1/4" socket or 5/16" combination wrench.I do have a similar version, but with a much longer handle, which really doesn't make sense as there's typically very little room to ratchet anyway and the possibility of over torquing is greater with a long handle.

These are great for the close working space when battery is in a housing and tight fit so sockets can not be used.

Replaced my old rounded off bolts on my battery cables and this wrench fits the new ones perfectly no play so it won't round them off.

For anyone that regularly cleans and tightens the side terminal bolts on a wide range of GM vehicles, this tool is a real help! I could never remember if the small hex bolt heads were metric or standard. Which wrench do I use? What socket will fit?? Should I just use pliers? Nooooo!!! With this little specialty wrench I don't have to trust my memory, I just grab it and go. Ratchet is reversible with a little lever. But maybe it's just a trifle 'over-engineered': just flip it over to go from tightening to loosening. Great addition to your mechanic's tool cabinet!
