I bought a front axle for my road bike to easily attach to a roof rack so I wouldn't need a tool to attach it to the rack. This 1.5 mm thread was perfect and threaded on smoothly to my carbon fork and right into the roof rack i have. This is so much better than having to fumble around with a wrench to get it off the rack.

Thru Axles are new to me and I have mixed feelings about the design. I have to carry an additional 6mm allen wrench just to repair a flat. No hex key, not repair. All my older bikes have quick release levers that don't need any tools to take off the tire and perform an emergency repair. Or take the front tire off to stuff into the trunk of a car. My new road bike has a fixed front thru axle while the rear has a quick release axle. Go figure.Coming across a quick release thru axle, I needed to get one. For my new road bike the axle is labeld as with M12xP1.5 thread pitch and overall length of 120mm and thread length of 15.5mm. I was able to find a GRQUSTO model that's a perfect match for the front axle.So my consideration is use the lighter weight original + a hex wrench or use the heavier quick release axle. The combined weight of the orignal axle and hex key is 47gr and the GRQUSTO quick release is 45gr. So it's a no brainer to use the GRQUSTO quick release axles and save 2 grams and never have to worry about carrying an extra hex wrench. The quick release axle slides in with a little oil and then the threads are a perfect match for a tight connection. The quick release lever can be lifted to aid in threading/unthreading and also to line up relatively with the front fork. Though the fix notches do not align perfectly with the fork. But close enough areodynamics. Now if I ever have any flats, I can quickly unthread the thru axles without any tools.
