Please note that the function of this product is similar to a fuse, where a sufficient power surge will disrupt its function in order to protect the appliance plugged in. The product can only do so once, so after it has protected the appliance from a surge it is spent and will no longer continue to function.

Other protectors cover or obscure the unused outlet of a two-outlet wall receptacle. This Pipeman's ProtectX-RF goes into the upper outlet allowing use of the lower. I purchaed two, and have they each have endured several tests with a desk lamp to assure proper working condition. This is an older design that is the better option in my opinion. And boy, here's a shocker .... it's made in China. Nonetheless, I am comfortable with the physical quality - not cheaply made. And, I like the longer delay (4 minutes) if power is interrupted.

With power surges and low voltage occurring on a regular here on the islands these devices help protect our appliances from failure. We have them in our refrigerator, freezer, washer and microwave. They work fine at all locations

Seems to be holding up well. We get a lot of outages/surges. Cooked a controller, This has been keeping the fridge safe from costly repairs

1800 Watts Refrigerator Surge ProtectorThis surge protector is great. I used while living overseas (Central America). The power would go off all the time. Sometimes because of the rain and sometimes just because. The constant on and off kills electronics especially refrigerators and freezers. I had to have my refrigerator repaired because of it. The repair cost almost as much as the fridge. They said I needed to buy one of these but of course they didn’t know where to get one. So the next time I was back in the US I bought this. I have been using it ever since and never had a problem. It works great and does exactly what it says it will do. When the power turns off (even if it’s only for a few seconds) it waits a few minutes before giving power back to the appliances. I wish they sold these there. I have friends that ask for them when I go back.Star Rating: When I do a review I always start out with 5 stars '''''. Then if there is something wrong I will deduct one star and explain why. This way I’m not just arbitrarily picking a number. I give this 5+ stars because it’s great. It works and it has saved me so much money in appliance repair. It’s definitely worth the price.I do NOT ever give good feedback for bad products. Rest assured my reviews are honest. If you have any questions about this product or my review, please do not hesitate to ask. I can help you determine if this will fit your needs. Thanks for reading.

I have 2 of these, one for my freezer downstairs and one for my refrigerator. I have had mine for about a year now and have had the power go outseveral times. Once just last week when a neighbors huge tree downed the power lines for 6 hours. I had the power go out yesterday to....twice due to a thunderstorm. Both of mine kill the power for 4 minutes and cycle back on fine every time. No issues.I'm not sure why other's have had a problem with their's. I suggest you do like one customer did here....shut off the breaker when you first get it and see if your's is defective. Also, never use these or plug a refrig or freezer onto an outlet with a ground fault. No regular surge protector will hold the power off for a few minutes that I know of....that's why I bought mine.I gave it 4 starts because the jules rating is a little lame.....but it does keep the power off, which protects the compressor.Remember, this is for a refrig or freezer that only pulls 10 amps at full load and 1,800 watts. If you plug this in the top outlet you can use the other one, but that's always a bad idea. Your freezer and probaly your refrigerator should be on a dedicated 15 and breaker. I used to have my toaster over on the same circuit as my old refrigerator. When I would make toast and the refrigerator was running I could hear the compressor tone down and strain. Not good....the compressor went bad in 6 years. And BTW...all compressors are made in China now, and that includes the ones in your air conditioners.I have an old upright Kelvinator freezer that I've had for 20 years and is still going strong because the compressor was made in the USA. I suggest getting one of these for every refrigerator & freezer you have and testing it first. If it's bad send it back. Also check the amp draw on your appliance first.I also suggest getting one of these if you have a garage door opener. My last one was killed in a storm because the solid state board went bad.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000JGI9SA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00Here is a outlet surge protector that that has over 1,400 jules, but it does not cycle off:http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000510R4?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00
