the outer portion seems like ever other self drill bit. Springs only last so long. Gums up with wood chips/shavings, so you have to stop and blow it out from time to time. And like every other bit I have purchased, here on Amazon or the wood working stores; the actual drill bit is the cheapest you can get. They break drilling into hard woods, at any speed. You have to take the bit apart, being careful to not lose any of the parts; and cut down a good bit to fit in the casing. If you plan on drilling into any thing hard, please change out the bit before hand. last thing you want is a broken bit in the hole you just drilled, in your piece of furniture you just spent dozens of hours building.
