Your cart is empty.A very unique looking plant that is easy to propagate. Equisetum is the only living genus in Equisetaceae, a family of ferns, which reproduce by spores rather than seeds. Equisetum is a "living fossil", the only living genus of the entire subclass Equisetidae, which for over 100 million years was much more diverse and dominated the understorey of late Paleozoic forests.

When I received my horsetail cuttings I didn't know what to expect. At first they looked like straws. Then I looked a little closer & they're already rooting!! What lively little cuttings!! It took a little over a week in a covered glass of water for the cuttings to grow their secondary roots, so I planted them next to my pond. Now they're sprouting!! So worth it! These people really care about what they send you.

Every single one rooted. Even those that were brown on top. Multiple roots. They have been sitting in water for almost 3 weeks. They key is to put them in a sunny spot and CHANGE the water at least once a week. There would be no reason for them not to sprout. CHANGE the water.

Half of them rotted in the soil. The other half seem to be rotting as well but have started to root underground. Keeping my fingers crossed.

The item was as is described in the description, I didn’t expect a plant I expected cuttings. I received more than 20 I received six more extra cuttings nearly all of mine have rooted see the photos below; follow the instructions put 2 to 2 1/2 inches of water in a jar and about 6-8 days later, I started to get roots even along the shaft.

So yes, these look like hollow, dead little sticks, but even though the tops can be brown, they will root if you put them in water and keep them in water. Later, when they start getting roots you can chop off the brown part above one of the nodes. These are deceiving if you don’t have experience with them and you can feel defeated before you start because they seem to be already dead and hollow. They aren’t.Unless you can see all the way through, there’s a portion at the very bottom that will absolutely root. I think mine took a couple weeks to start seeing little white nodes/roots starting. If you are going to remove them from the water and plant them I would make sure you’ve got quite an established root system. Make sure they’re going into very sandy media. Something sandy with tiny bits of lava rock works well.If you need instant gratification with plants and propagations, this wouldn’t be for you.Knowing what I know, I actually don’t think the price is bad and I think it’s equivalent to the price of a small established plant.I will take some photos and add them to my review. I’ve got these growing in large pond on my property and also a 150 gallon indoor pond.

This is what was delivered to me. Empty tubes. No roots. After I received the product I noticed the description says that it is for cuttings so their description isn't wrong. I just wish I read the description better. Instructions: "Root them in just water with a little rooting powder." When I make a purchase I don't want to purchase a project. I want ready-to-plant items so I returned this product. Photos are of both ends of item. The first photo is of the "bottom" end

I could not get them to take off. They started to grow and then stopped. Nothing took roots. Sadly none of the survived.
