Specifications:

1.Thermocouples are very sensitive, requiring a good amplifier with a cold-compensation reference.

2.Input voltage is 3-5v DC

3.This breakout board has the chip itself, a 3.3V regulator with 10uF bypass capacitors and level shifting circuitry,

4.Comes with a 2 pin terminal block (for connecting to the thermocouple) and pin header (to plug into any breadboard or perfboard).

5.Works with any K type thermocouple

6. K thermocouples have about ±2°C to ±6°C accuracy

7.Internal temperature reading

8.3 to 5v power supply and logic level compliant!

9.SPI data output requires any 3 digital I/O pins.

Package Included:

3 x MAX31855 Thermocouple Breakout Board

The specs in the listing state: "3.This breakout board has the chip itself, a 3.3V regulator with 10uF bypass capacitors and level shifting circuitry". This is not true. There is no voltage regulation on the board.Unless you have a very controllable max. 3.3V source (i.e. not an Arduino) you are going to end up frying these chips. We found this out the hard way.Do yourself a favor and buy the brand name version. They are more expensive but their specs are actually truthful.

Editing my review. They are not stable from unit to unit. Also fire hazard. Be careful, if you get the pins out of order, not just power and ground, they heat up to the point they physically burn your fingers. I only caught a problem with one as it started to smell. I've done combinations of thermocouples and these and found the common demoninator is the boards are not consistent. You can get single digit incorrect readings from different thermocouples, but consistent in range readings on others boards with the same thermocouple. I will need to try a different brand, these are not consistent enough from board to board.
