For a test, I used the 5/8" bit to expand the end of a piece of soft copper tubing. While the procedure caused the tubing to heat up enough that I had to quench it in water a couple times to keep it from burning my hand, it worked easily enough that I WAS able to complete the task without needing a clamp or pliers to keep the tubing from spinning. The resulting flare was a tight, secure fit. So much so, in fact, that the slight bulge in the opposing piece created by a tubing cutter kept the two ends from being joined.
