I didn't NEED to replace the factory one but since I was replacing the radiator and thermostat I decided to spend $15 to get a shiny new one. It's new and shiny, unlike the 22yo one it replaced that was dirty, scuffed, and just not looking so hot. Mating surface is polished and seals as expected.

This is a very nice and very well made GM original part, and it fit the 5.7 liter Vortech in my 99 Tahoe perfectly. It's made in Mexico and is FAR better quality than the cheap Chinese-made water outlets from other manufacturers. I don't often buy genuine parts or parts from AC Delco because they tend to cost more and the quality isn't any better than a good aftermarket part, but in some cases the genuine part IS better, and this is one of those cases. It does cost more than the cheap aftermarket water outlets, but it's absolutely worth it.

Replaced my corroded water outlet at the same time as the thermostat. This is the same as original, which had corroded over the years and was deeply pitted. Simple easy and well built.
