This weighs about the same as a regular deer hang. It is obviously more compact than a traditional but I am worried that the socket in the middle could break under too much weight. And for about $40 I am just not sure it is worth it. So if you are looking for compact size, this would be a good fit but if you are trying to reduce your weight this isn’t going to do that.

This seems a decently sturdy and servicable hoist. I've never used a two piece so I put it through some rudimentary testing.Out of the box it was already rigged into the pulleys but the instructions included show how to do that if you ever need to replace the rope. Took a second attempt to get the gambrel hooks oriented correctly and several minutes to uncoil that rope. I advise you lay it out fully and rest/stretch it before use. The factory coils are so tight that the memory is in the nylon and that makes it impossible to feed into the pulley and capture without twisting and binding.I hung it a then used two 35lb kettle bells to test the lift and the lock which is just a metal loop with a "V" that traps the rope's retreat. I even stepped up onto the gambrel along with the weights and it held. Don't reccomend that though as the two piece joint is not meant for loading on top, just the hook ends. The bag is functional and if you get yourself a large D-ring and an axle strap you will have a way to hang it from a limb in the field. The rope diameter is a bit thin for gripping. So, while it claims 500 lbs, it's not likely you can pull that much, even with the pulley ratio. Expect to have to tie a loop or wrap around your gloved hands.

Very well made and high quality rope. Makes hanging game so much easier. Built way better than my previous one from a different brand. I would recommend

Everything you need in one small package. The gambrel goes together quite easily and should be plenty strong to hold any size deer. The kit includes everything you’ll need; gambrel, pulleys, rope, hook, just add a deer and a havalon and you’re ready to rock. This is perfect for an item that you’re going to end up storing 99.99% of the time and it doesn’t take up much room in a pack or in the bed of your truck.

Looking forward to using in the fall! Pulled it out to test and it is simple to use/assemble. Seems straightforward and consistent with other products on the market. By using a non-welded frame, this product lets you pack it down for easier use in the field. The straps do probably require some consideration since they are the item that could contain some rot/mold/dry rot over time but I'll keep an eye on it and update if it becomes an issue.

This will certainly help all of the deer hunters in my family have an easier time dressing out their deer. It seems to be very well made so It should last for a good long time.
