READ FIRST BEFORE YOU BUY! If you’re like me you’ve probably been scouring for some time looking at distributors, along with the reviews for each one to see if it’s worth the time and/or money… in the case of this A-Premium Ford distributor (Duraspark 2 knock-off) it’s not worth the money, time or effort wasted on. The day I received it I opened the box and was surprised by two things, it came with a steel gear (which was and upgrade imo) and a decent brass terminal dizzy cap (again, upgrade imo) I looked it over and noticed it had a fair amount of shaft play up and down. I carefully disassembled it to inspect the internals and found one broken screw for the pick-coil base plate, along with flimsy untrustworthy pick-up coil wires. I wouldn’t bet on the unit to last one trip if you ask me. The cherry on top was discovering the machine work for the center shaft and housing, it was noticeably very off center. I will most definitely not be using this distributor or trusting this brand ever again unfortunately. Do yourself and your vehicle a favor and look elsewhere for a distributor assembly. I bought this to replace my no-name ready to run distributor that I’m currently still using, I only want to replace it so I can re-curve the timing better and make it more “Ford correct”. If your looking to get a decent reliable electronic style distributor without the need for a ignition module and so on, consider the ready to run (r2r) small cap distributor. I had bad luck with the GM style large cap distributor due to poor design, this one would’ve been the same case and failed if I had of tried it out without inspecting it first. I hope this helps someone make a better choice than I did initially and save time/money. I’m only giving this five stars so it’s not removed from the public for speaking the truth.

Great Duraspark replacement distributor! This one is made very similar to the original Ford Duraspark. Just note that this distributor comes with very large centrifugal advance slots and very heavy springs. The screw holding down the internal plate is too tall and rubs the pick-up coil plate so cut the washers off the screw to make it shorter and prevent the rubbing. The vacuum advance is adjustable with a hex key. The included cap is of good quality but the rotor quality is questionable as mine arrived cracked and not usable. I was able to perform the same re-curving upgrades for performance applications as done with the original Ford Duraspark by welding up the advance slots and installing light weight springs so overall I will purchase again because the original Ford Duraspark's are getting hard to find these days.

Although I think it was the brainbox in my case, this disturber seems okay for the price, would have been better w/o alum contacts

Great fit and quality. No issues with the dizzy. If I could change 1 thing on it I would tighten up the vacuum advance some, it will throw about 30 degrees advance under vacuum which is a bit much for my build but I make it work.

Quite a lot more vacuum advance than original. Very good machining and all the fasteners were tight. I always check fasteners on all items I purchased. Love the quality control. It is giving me better fuel milage and runs so smooth now!
