Did not work for my 2nd Gen Tacoma. Not enough room between shock and cable. Nice idea. Just not for my little truck.The fella talking about a zip tie, has no idea how silly that idea is. Guaranteed that will only last up until you close the gate. SNAP! lolNOTE* This iS designed to be used WITH cable. Not in place. Don’t take cable off, or you’ll find yourself on the ground next time you sit on tail gate.I was able to keep pivot arm in place despite not using the shock. ThiS acts as an anti-theft lock, so not a 100% loss.Great idea, will probably be fine for larger trucks. No so much for Tacoma’s.

Like many others have mentioned, this product isn't a great fit for the 2nd gen Tacoma. While it technically fits and functions, it tends to fray the cable unless you remove it—which I wouldn’t recommend. The shock itself is okay, but feels weak. I, like others, was hoping it would work right out of the box without needing to modify the cable or do a custom install.This was my second attempt with this product. The first time, parts were missing. Both times, the Loctite had leaked out inside the bag. Returning yet again

If you know how to do any type of fabrication or even just to look at a problem and be able to fix it. Then you'll be able to figure this out. The cable on the left side where the hydraulic arm install gets in the bind. All you need to do is take a zip tie and wrap it around the hydraulic part to defer it to one side so it doesn't get in a bind. I had it on and fixed within 15 minutes.

Product came with loctite opened and all over everything. Installed-easy, but as others stated unfortunately does Not fit with tailgate cable.I’m sure if you weren’t planning on sitting on your tailgate or placing anything heavy on it, you could remove the cable and all would be good.Just defeats the purpose though.A better design needs to be in place where you can just remove the cables and have struts that can support heavy loads also.

Works ok, the thread locker opened in thd bag so hardware was messy, I cleaned it up installed quickly. See how long it lasts but day 1 works well.

Well the concept is awesome! But, It doesn’t work at all. Don’t get me wrong it does slow the tailgate down from having nothing in place but doesn’t fit between tailgate and bed. So if you install and it is done correctly as per directions the tailgate will not shut. I have tried every which way from exactly what the directions say to making changes to attempt to get it to work and in no way shape of form can you totally shut your tailgate. But the concept is awesome it it could actually work. Directions are amazing and easy, Seems to 100% durable just from me trying to get it to close several times. So I had to take out and scrap the idea. So if you have a 2nd gen Toyota Tacoma, This will not work. Nice value as well!

Take caution in closing tailgate, safety cable will pinch with the absorber. Not much space for both.

Trabaja el pistón, hace su función, preeero....... no hay suficiente espacioPara el cable de soporte y el piston, no me convence de el todo su operación, quizás quite el cable de soporte.....
