This was installed along with a new engine in a truck the rarely gets drove so I was in no hurry to fix it. From day one with this distributor after the truck ran for about 30 minutes it would start dying. After changing many other parts it kept dying. Finally swapped out the distributor and problem solved. Something was getting hot and causing problems in the distributor. Think it was the control module.

This distributor has been all in all, great on my Ford F600 391ft - However. Unbeknownst to me for a while, the mechanical advance mechanism is stiff and gets stuck at full advance. I found this out when tuning and swaping out the advance springs. It seems to be a manufacturing defect and isn't repairable. On a highly tuned motor this would be much more of an issue. I will be buying another in the hopes that the next one doesn't suffer the same issue.Check your mechanical advance is free as a bird.Remember the electrical Pigtail.Would be 5 star if not for my issue.

It’s so awesome that they make these, ditching the points style ignition and converting to HEI is wonderful. All it takes is a 12v feed and you have spark! Absolute game changer when restoring old Fords

I liked this electronic HEI GM styled distributer with it's internal 65,000 volt coil as I found this model to fit the 361cid ("Edsel") engine that powers my old 1978 F700 Ford crane truck. Now it starts and runs like new.Oh, and yes, rebuilding the starter motor for ease of engine turnover sure helped with engine starts.

everything fits like it should. no issues. good spark looks great. the pigtail does not come with it.
