You guys are confused. This gasket is NOT for the thermostat (in spite of the misnamed title for this part), rather it is for the OUTLET from the head. On the 4 cylinder Toyota 5SFE, this is for Water Outlet on the right side of the head, next to the distributor.

I recently had to replace my radiator. I decided to also replace upper & lower hoses, clamps, thermostat and gasket, just for the sake of following my routine. This part was shown by Amazon as being an appropriate fit or replacement for my 1998 Camry 2.2L I4 engine, 165,000 miles.Unfortunately this part has no place on my car. There was never a gasket there where one bolts on the hose fitting, instead my car's design relies upon only the neoprene compression ring that surrounds the thermostat. This item is superfluous and unnecessary at best, but what's worse is that the center hole, measured at exactly 33mm, is considerably smaller than the diameter of the thermostat hole that it's supposed to surround. It can't fit even if one wanted to add it (center hole too small) where it never was in the first place.Besides the misfit for my car as stated on Amazon, (searched and found under "Parts for '98 Camry, Thermostat Gasket", but did not exactly state that it fits or doesn't match my car once on the item page) ... this seems to be a fairly well made gasket, made of a sort of tan plasticized cardboard, bolt holes centered 62mm apart and 0.4mm thick. This is why I didn't give it a 1 star rating. I didn't return it because it cost me so little. Amazon's been great with a previous return. Besides, it probably fits another unknown model of car very well.Otherwise all of Amazon's parts recommendations for my car have been a spot-on fit. I consider it unusual to see an error such as this here, and I'm writing to inform others.
