The packaging is, if anything, excessive. Not huge, just some tightly wrapped that it was actually hard to get at and the chain is delicate - aggressive unpacking could easily break it.The handle is not attached as shipped, which is no problem. I did see one review complaining of the reservoir leaking oil from the screw holes. Forewarned, I attached the handle then removed one screw and applied BLUE loctite and replaced it, then repeated with the other. I've had this lamp for a few weeks and have had no leaking.Is this the bestest most fantastic oil lamp ever? Perhaps not, but there's nothing wrong it if you prepare it with some care. And it does look more fantastic and expensive than it is. And, yes, you can most certainly burn the midnight for real.
