Perfect replacement for worn out struts on a truck tool box. Hopefully they will last.

I used these 7.5in 10lb gas struts to hold open and gently close 6 overhead cabinet doors in a motorhome. The doors were made of light weight lower density wood weighing 3.6 to 5lbs with their hardware. All struts worked well. They came with full color instructions with some pictures, although it was extremely helpful to watch a couple of YouTube videos from professionals to understand how to install them. They came with the hardware and all necessary screws for the install. I ordered these struts when a different seller had trouble supplying struts wo defects. The struts should be delivered with no visible or tactile scratches on the surface of the polished rods - otherwise premature wear, leakage, and failure of the strut may occur.

Spring works as described, requiring a force to contract, and always pushing out if it is not fully extended. However, if you are not careful pressing the end onto the ball connection, the internal clip can bend over, resulting in the strut not being able to get a good hold on the ball. I managed to do this with 2 of the struts I ordered.

My truck box lid would never stay in the raised position without propping it up with a stick. I finally got so tired of it I ordered these shocks to replace them with. So glad I did! The kit comes with the ball studs that the struts attach to, however I did not need those. The struts were the exact length of the old ones and I had both changed out within minutes. Finally, my truck box lid stays open without propping it with a stick! Would definitely buy again if needed.

Fit perfectly. Replaced original cylinders on 20 y.o. “Better Built” truck bed box from Lowe’s.
