My son was trying to record things off his switch and put them on the computer with this mechanism. He said it actually worked for about 2 to 5 minutes and then the screen went black and after that it's not working anymore. I'm not technical and I'm not really exactly sure what happened but he says it doesn't work.

This video capture dongle allows you to connect most (I haven't tried all so...) HDMI devices to a USB device for streaming, recording, displaying, etc. The setup process was pretty easy and straightforward. The image quality was as good as the regular image quality if i were to connect the device to my TV. Solid video capture at a solid price.

Worked well with my Galaxy S22 Ultra. It has the option to use USB PD to charge my phone but it is not required for actual usage. This makes it a great tool for on the go use. The video quality seemed very good at 1080p. I don't have any cameras that output 4K over HDMI so I can't test for it. I could see using this with a phone as a cheap alternative to external video monitors for in the field photography and recording.

So far we have tried several differentHDMI connector cables that we know work, we have updated the camera drivers to the lastest version, and we have tried to use and trouble shoot both OBS and VLC programs as best we could. Nothing worked to get this video capture card to cooperate with our Nikon Coolpix 530. The computer recognized the camera, but it would only show a black screen and no video. So there was no video to for the card to capture. When hooked up directly to the computer and using those same cables and programs, it showed the live picture just fine. So the issue seems to be with this video capture card. I guess it is just not compatible for us. No matter what we did, it was always a black screen. We also tried it with one of our phones as well and got the same black screen result, but the phone was an older Samsung Note 5. So maybe our technology is too old to work with this card?It seems to be working for some reviewers, and giving the same black screen issue with others. So I am not sure if it's the capture card being faulty, or if it's our technology being older that is the issue.Either way just in case, if you have older technology you are trying to use, then this may not be the capture card for you. Unfortunately it wasn't the one for us.

This is an interesting product. I did not have much luck getting it to work with the free open source VLC but it worked very well with OBS capture software. The input is the HDMI plug which was surprising to me but I guess it makes sense considering that the Output of almost all mopdern PCs is HDMI. The other end goes to a USB-C plug that attaches to your device doing the capture. In my case it was a Dell PC running OBS software. I had to watch a YouTube Video to figure out how to set this thing up. My package did not come with any instructions but the YouTube tutorial did the trick. Video quality is as good as the original - I could not see a difference.

This capture card worked totally fine for me on a Windows 11 PC recording PS4 content. That being said, I don’t live stream or care all too much about the audio quality so take this with a grain of salt. I’m sure there are more professional options out there but this works great for my hobbyist needs.
