Installed in an Asrock ITX motherboard to increase SATA ports from 4 to 6. Working well.

Once booted into an OS, both attached drives are accessible, but neither can be used to actually boot the computer. There is an onboard BIOS option ROM, but it doesn't detect any drives, since the same controller chip is used on some motherboards, where it is bootable, I can only guess the configuration is (disappointingly) hard-coded to not initialise/detect the drives. Also both of the included SATA cables were garbage and introduced lots of CRC errors and link resets - straight into the bin.

Worked great for adding 2 extra SATA3 ports on my home server mini-ITX board, running Ubuntu 24LTS Linux. Drives were recognized right away after booting, no special drivers or fussing required. Speeds are on part with the built-in SATA3 ports and now I can add some much needed storage expansion without upgrading the whole system.

Adding this adapter in place of the wifi card (you can use Ethernet or a PCIe Wifi Card) adds 2 extra SATA ports which allowed me to reconnect the slimline DVD drive to the system.I have an HP SFF desktop that can house a 2.5" drive & 2x 3.5" drives. I filled it with an SSD & 2 HDDs. Only problem is the motherboard has provision for 4 sata ports but HP cheaped out any only put 3 sata ports and left the 4th port as just traces on the board.

Using this with 2 Sata SSDs and passed this device through to a virtual machine for a RAID array as a system disk for the VM. Works flawlessly for my purposes. Nice little unit to have around to add a couple of sata ports
