The mat is designed to absorb sumi ink that has bled through the thin rice paper used in Japanese brush painting and to provide a soft surface compared with the harder surface of something like a watercolor block. It is thick and large enough to be cut into sizes needed for individual use and purpose. It folds up neatly and is easily carried with other supplies.

Not the best quality product out there. It sheds upon initial use. I've exchanged it once and the replacement still arrived with some glue or burn spot on it.

This felt mat came in perfect conditions! It does not smell upon opening the package which is a plus. It does have creases when you lay it flat. If this turns out to be a problem, just rolling it instead of folding it back up. However, you can iron it out or use it the way it is since it is not super badly crease and will eventually straighten out. It is a great affordable price too! Another plus is that the sizes are also correct just like what they had put on their page, 80x120cm. It fits my table perfectly surprisingly as well as I thought I will have to cut it a bit upon arrival but nope it was just right.
