2024 update. Worked fine for 8 months now looses connection 30 or 40 times a day. GarbageWorks great for spectrum in Ohio. Spectrum phone rep gave me the run around saying it is not compatible. I packed it up to return. But I did a chat with Carlos at spectrum and he said it is compatible. Lo and behold I reconnected it and it works great! The unit did not come in new packaging 🙄. But it looks maybe like it's new? Reconditioned. I don't know. They say routers only last 5 years and this has been my experience.

Personally I would have wanted a newer model Cisco DPC3008, however Cablevision on Long Island NY has a limited list of modems on their supported list and this is one of the few I could actually buy anymore as most are replaced with newer models... yet they don't support them... As I've learned in other cases, if it's not on the supported list... it may or may not work. Of all teh brands listed this is the only brand that meet my trusted company criteria. The nice part is that I couldn't install it personally, as i'm several hours away but was able to walk my non-technical brother. disconnect this and that, and reconnect in this order... and within 10 minutes he was zooming at the same speed he had before (15 Meg). We bought this modem to be able to upgrade their speed to 50 up/25 down, since the current one was too old to do so, and they were paying for this level of service. After a quick call to the cable company, he rechecked the modem speed and he's now getting 59 down and 29 upload.Awesome, easy install and now he's got much faster internet with a good name brand modem

Have had this modem set up on the Time Warner Road Runner network in Central NC for a couple of weeks now... NO ISSUES at all, works as it should. I consistently get 30 Mbps down and 5 Mbps up, which is what I purchased for service. When I purchased this modem I was looking for a bridge-mode modem without any features built in, I have an existing network and didn't want to make any changes to that (if it works then don't fix it); this unit has fit the bill. It has very little in the way of features, a simple web-based configuration page that lets you do little more than see the status of the unit (frequencies, channel usage and assignments, etc.); it will provide basic DHCP and NAT (private IP addressing to your computer) if that is something you are looking for, but will also operate in IP-Passthrough mode if you have a router already and want to avoid double-NAT problems. All in all a good DOCSIS 3.0 modem, they are simple and robust devices and most of the problems that people have with them are ISP related. I would recommend this to a friend in need of a simple, no-frills modem without the monthly rental charge from the cable company.

To start with, I am Canadian. I purchased this as it is the only docsis 3 Cogeco will allow a third party isp client to use in my area..I read below someone had issues as there are no instructions. You connect the cable line. You connect the Ethernet to either your router or your computer. You connect the power adapter. You give your s/n and mac address (on the bottom of the modem and on the box) They put it in their system and voile you have internet. You can download the user manual free from Cisco's website. The only problem I encountered was Cogeco delaying the input with lame excuses ie: we are back logged;, we put in the wrong mac address; the problem is the modem had been previously used with bell sympatico...really? sympatico dsl? Once my new provider got thru all that garbage, I was up and running. So far it is faster than what I had with the RCA Thompson. My kids say it is faster for both their phones and with the on line gaming. It is lightning fast when directly connected to my laptop and I noticed the speed decreased when hooked to my network but I think that is most likely due to possibly needing a faster router as it is a few years old or maybe just the wifi signal coming out of the basement.Anyway, so far I am happy with this modem and would recommend.

I purchased this modem so that I could stop paying the "rental fee" with Comcast, and I'm very happy that I did. It works perfectly, and it synced up with Comcast and activated immediately, without having to contact support at all.Very fast too! I more than doubled my speed by switching to this from the standard surfboard modem I was renting. I went from 11mb down and 2mb up, to 26-30MB down and 5mb up! Definitely no complaints there!Looking forward to enjoying the benefits long-term: No modem rental fees, and faster connections too. I highly recommend THIS particular modem for Comcast (the DPC 3000), as it IS on their approved list, and it's a great piece of equipment too.One of the benefits I was looking for in particular...was that it is 10/100/1000, and that was important to me because my home network is also Gigabit fast, so while the actual transfer rates from Comcast might be slower, I was happy to see the throughput at gigabit speeds in my whole setup.

The cable modem hasn't even been in service for 6 months, and it's now dead. It just cycles through the lights, resetting itself all the time, and never able to sustain a connection. The cable Internet tech came out today to find out what's wrong with my service, and all he had to do was replace the modem. He tried to update the modem to the latest firmware, to see if that was possible the issue, but the modem still won't respond. It's dead and it hasn't even been in service for 6 months. Last Cisco home-use product I will ever purchase. I'm going with a Motorola for my next purchase, and I recommend that others do the same. Stay away from this model.
