I spent over a month making my decision on this purchase. During that time, the calculus was cost, space and CFM. As a hobbyist, and an amateurish one at that, my needs dictated a price point from $200-400 dollars, the upper number representing a stretch. I settled on this collector. It arrived today and I could not be more content.I do feel constrained to comment on one item, however; that is instructions and hardware. As was mentioned in at least one other review, the instructions were, at best, sketchy. That said, a little organization and logic will suffice to get the job done (about 3 hours from unpack to plug in). Here are a few tips to make the task more palatable:* Do not assume anything. For instance, one of the attachment sets feature a bolt with a 12 mm head and a nut with a 9/16" head.* The instructions, uniformly, lack any detail. This, in conjunction with dark, low-contrast illustrations, require a little thought and strategizing. Move with deliberation.* Attachments are made with both nuts and bolts and machine screws. Flat washers are supplied...I used lock washers as well (my own).* I am always most comfortable when the task and the parts run out together. In this case, I was left with 5 flat washers of 2 different sizes and an Allen wrench for which I had no requirement. Just saying...* One last observation: the majority of the fasteners (machine screws in this case) had 15/32" heads. Who in the world uses a machine screw with a 15/32" head :)?Let me finish by restating that I consider this unit to be a very, very good buy. It has a small footprint, sucks in massive quantities of air loaded with beaucoup debris and has, by the way, good fit and finish. I think it was Bedford Forrest who coined the phrase, "fustest with the mostest". The spelling and grammar may be atrocious, but the sentiment fits this item.

This is my first DC, I have only had experience useing a shpo vac prior. I wish I would have gotten the 3hp unit but it would not fit where I needed to place it. I don't think you can have too much suction. The unit is not that loud compared to a shop vac.The unit arrived well packed, the instructions are lousey, but come on were all handy enough to figure it out.I would say yes to getting the unit again especially based on the price

I recently received the Oasis 1666A Dust Collector. My initial feelings were disappointment. The collector was poorly packaged and when I opened it I found a small dent in the base and a small dent in the fan housing. The instructions were a joke and no help in the assembly. It was also missing some of the nuts and bolts needed for assembly but received other hardware that wasn't needed. After 3 hours I finally got it together. It does run but is fairly loud. Does seem to have good suction. I've only used a couple of times to test it but it does do what I wanted. I guess I will just have to wait and see how long it last. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
