The bridge cracked on my Eastman 515 so I ordered this inexpensive one because of the reviews. I anticipated that it might be a throw away before I spring for the big bucks. Give it a shot. It does not have slots so they do need to be cut. That was really no big deal, I had a low cost set of files, marked them and cut the slots. Ok now the good part, the top of this bridge fit onto the top of the Eastman bridge base so I didn't have to fit the new base to the Mandolin. I put it all back together , set the action with the Fritz ruler, then the intonation and all is well. Back in business ! I'm not sure what benefit an expensive bridge would do. The 515 is a fine Instrument but its not a multi thousand dollar Mando. I'm gonna order another of these bridges to keep in the parts box .

I had to sand this bridge down tremendously on one side (because the neck/fretboard on this old mandolin are not level), and no matter how thin I have gone on the right side, the bridge shows no signs of instability. This ebony is very strong wood. I also purchased this particular bridge because the hardware is silver, as is the hardware on the mandolin I have. I’m very glad I went with this bridge. Thank you!

Bought to replace an older bridge, it has to be fitted to the top of the mandolin, but looks very substantial.

Pay attention to the dimensions. It's smaller than the original bridge but works fine. Had to sand to fit but that's done easily enough by placing sandpaper rough side up on your mandolin where the bridge will sit and using the body of the mandolin to shape it.

I do instrument repair in my spare time, and recently inherited a cheap-o F-style mandolin that had a bum bridge, and after getting the loose neck and all the other boo-boo's fixed I decided to order this bridge to see if it would even be playable. The bridge came in just a couple of days, and it appears to be high-quality ebony, as described. It required only a touch of fitting (sanding of the bottom part) and it actually fits very well. So well, in fact, that I took it back off and sanded some of the sharp edges to round them off and make it more comfortable and give it a worn-in look. It actually took a very high polish on my buffing wheel, and looks like it was made for the instrument. It sits up proud with no leaning. The adjusting wheels are nicely knurled and work smoothly, and the saddle doesn't slop and is sturdy. I especially appreciate the arched saddle, which helps in intonation. After filing slots in the saddle and adding strings the mandolin came to life and really sounds and plays great - - this bridge was exactly what it needed - - I'm a happy camper, and highly recommend this bridge. The price was one of the cheapest I could find, too, so I'm double delighted. I'll be ordering more of these for sure.

The fit was perfect. Looks great on mandolin and because it is ebony will last a long time.
