Even non off-road enthusists can appreciate the added protection of this metal skid plate. The OEM's engine plastic splash guard on 2 gen Colarado / Canyon (2016 - present, excluding ZR2 & AEO Bison varients as they have steel plates from factory) is prone to damage from debris and the vent will pack mud / ice / snow up under the engine / transmission / transfer case (4x4 models) and also exposes two critical electrical connectors to impact / crush damage (elect pwr steering & transfer case control). This skid plate greatly increases protection to those items. It appears to be made from quality 0.25 inch thick aluminum plate. Welds and paint finish are well done. Mounting holes are elongated slightly to allow for any minor differences one vehicle frame to another. Factoring in the costs to repair damage to engine oil pan / bottom end, transmission fwd housing or those electrical connectors this skid plate is super cheap insurance and peace of mind.

Would be super easy to install if my truck hadn't already been bottomed out. Would recommend.

This skidplate is fantastic quality, especially for the price. Holes all lined up nicely (use the factory bolts that you removed to take off the plastic craptastic one from GM). This is a MUST HAVE if you have a non-ZR2 Colorado (or Canyon) and plan to do any serious wheeling. You can see the HUGE difference between what GM put on (on the left), and this bad boy. Much more confident on the trails now! Highly recommended. 👍

For the price this seems like a good replacement for the front plastic but time will tell. The edges have a definite burr on one side so be careful installing, it can cut you. All you need tool wise is a 15mm wrench and some locktite. The holes mount up well and it took me all of 5 minutes to install. The only real issue is that it seems the angles on the tabs are just a little off, but once everything is bolted in it fit fine. You should definitely put some locktite on the bolts when reinstalling, when I pulled the old plate off the bolts were very loose and one was actually backed out a little bit already.

Only complaint is there are no vents, the plastic oem part has huge vents. Grinder, hammer and can of spray paint and, vents.

Bought this skid plate to replace the original plastic one that I left behind in the last mud puddle I romped thru. What a huge improvement from factory model. had it installed within 10 minutes, all mounting holes aligned and looks great. I was going to fabricate my own out of aluminum diamond plate to save cost. Glad I didn't. Love this very durable and reasonably priced addition to my 2018 Colorado.

Works great, price isn't too bad.Fits perfect. Much better than the O.E. plastic junk that comes on the truck.
