How to find a breakpoint:
1. Connect one of the wires in the cable to the live wire, and connect the other wires to zero or ground to form a loop. 2. Turn on the test pencil and measure from the cable to the live line in the opposite direction. 3. When the normal cable is measured, the battery indicator lights up red and beeps. When the indicator light of the test pen goes out and there is no sound, this position is the breakpoint position.
Live Wire Testing:
Connect the sensing end of the test pen to the object to be tested. If the analog bar is within 6 grids, the slow rhythm buzzer will alarm and the display will be green and backlit.indicating that the test is a LIVE WIRE.
Null Wire Testing:
Put the test pen test head close to the object to be tested, such as the analog bar, the fast-paced buzzer alarm, the display is bright red backlight,indicating that the tested line is Null Wire.

This product here is amazing. Itโs very small compact. It works perfect to text everything right on points. The battery Life is amazing. Itโs safety is great. The value of the money for this is mind blowing very easy to use and itโs 100% accurate when it comes to testing I love this product. I have to admit I did not know what to expect when this arrived. I initially was going to give it one star- but I played around with it a little and got it to work. The box was actually beeping when it arrived- before I opened it. I almost didn't, but knew what it was supposed to be so I figured it got turned on somehow in transit. I'm actually surprised it was delivered with the noise it was making. Since it came with the batteries installed, and I didn't see anything to keep the batteries from making contact with the electrodes- it's not a surprise it turned it on in transit. Once I got it out of the box, I had to take the batteries out and put them back in to 'reset' the device, as it was just turning on without me even pushing a button and beeping even if I just moved it or shook it. I initially thought it was unusable or possessed- it just kept going on and off when I moved it- no matter if I pressed the power button or not.Once I put the batteries back in, it seemed to be working appropriately. The power turns on with the red button and the sensitivity does seem to change with the blue button. I like the flashlight option to see into dark spaces. Initially, I tested it on an outlet that did not have anything plugged in- it did not alarm- once I changed the sensitivity it alarmed on that outlet. It seems to be pretty sensitive- I went around the house testing it on everything from outlets to my computer- and it seemed to pick up the current well giving an audible warning and lighting up red. It will alarm all along the cord as well when something is plugged in- making it decent to trace a line.The device I received does NOT have an LCD display- just a set of green arrows that light up with the intensity of the current. It does not match some the photos on the top of the product page. The actual device is pictured if you scroll down more. That is a little misleading.It seems to work well enough now- but I wasn't thrilled about the packaging (which offered NO protection) and how it arrived- how do I know it was not damaged in shipping? While the arrow will give a display of the intensity of current- there isn't a digital readout or any way to actually know what sensitivity level you are on. If I were going to use this, I would probably double check it with a second detector just to be safe since you don't get any real quantitive information. Overall, it is a nice little device that can help the DIY home repair person to stay away from live wires. It is small and lightweight, making it an easy addition to your toolbox. I also like that it can clip onto your belt or pocket.

This has worked well for determining possible electric currency flow for some small projects Iโve done around the house. Mostly changing out light switches and soon, Iโll be switching out a sconce in the dining room. I plan on using it to keep me safe during that project. Earlier this year, I was switching out one light switch in an area where there were 2 switches on the same panel. I turned off the electricity to the panel (so I thought when I saw the light go out) but low and behold each switch was on a different breaker and of course the one I was working with was NOT the one that I turned off. Fortunately, I found out by โaccidentallyโ turning the light on while I had the part disassembled. Needless to say, I turned off all the electricity in the house to be sure I had the correct wires turned off and then I ordered this for future projects.
