Well, I had this skid plate on my list for a few months before placing my order. I understand this isn't designed for any hard-core crawling. With that in mind this is a good piece of protection if you do go off road and get in a little rough patch. In my case it's usually when I'm driving to get to my deer stand. When the "road" washes out and it gets a bit deep I'll be glad I have this on. Install was simple with little time or effort given. I did have to tweak one side up just a little bit cause it didn't have an even gap across the bumper. But it was minor, just my OCD wouldn't let me leave it alone. Anyhow it looks good on my truck and it won't be long before I get to really test it out. Happy hunting my taco family.

First of all, I don't take my '05 Tacoma on any gnarly off road adventures, so this protective skid plate is perfect for my application. If you're planning on doing some technical or more hardcore off road (rocks, deep ruts, etc.), then this may not be the plate for you. That being said, it is fairly substantial in it's material and build and will definitely protect against occasional ground scrapes or rocks and debris being kicked up off the road at highway speeds.When I bought this truck the factory protective plate was missing, along with the hardware that attached it. This plate comes with the two front bolts which mount directly into to the factory plate bolt holes. I had to go to Lowes and pick up two more bolts and washers which hold the rear of this plate, and attach into the rear factory bolt holes. The bolts are size M8-1.25x20mm (in case you're missing them too). This plate is designed to fit over the factory protective plate, but it works and attaches just fine as a stand alone skid plate. It was extremely simple to install. The four attachment points lined up perfectly with the factory bolt holes, and the cut outs on the top front line up perfectly with the recovery hooks. I think it looks good on the truck (although I may watch it and paint it black to kind of tie it in with the black grill cover), once attached it is very secure and it gives some peace of mind because it is protecting some hydraulic hoses and a control arm which all sit right behind it (I'm sure protecting those things is the purpose for the lightweight factory plate that I was missing).I got mine on an Amazon Warehouse deal for $70, which was a definite bonus! I expected it to have some scrapes or some other blemishes but it was in pristine condition, with all the hardware and in the original Toyota parts packaging. It looks like it has never been out of the box much less installed. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Install was quick and easy, all you need is a 12mm socket wrench. 15 minutes tops. Shipped way faster than I thought. Very happy!

Just so nobody else makes the same mistake I did. This skid plate is not for a 5 lug wheel truck. If your Tacoma has 5 lugs and you want this to fit, be prepared to drill at least two holes in the rear of the skid plate and re-position the front mounting arms that come with this plate. I found out the hard way. But if you are up for a challenge, it really looks good on the truck!

Just installed this product on my 2014 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport. I will say make sure you have the correct tools to loosen the front bolts on the existing undercarriage plate. Mine were very tight and I ended up stripping/rounding out the bolts. I had to use some power tools to fix this. Other than that hick-up, it took 10 minutes to install. It looks great on my black Tacoma. I like the matte silver accent and the protection it adds to the truck. This is not made for intense off-roading so this plate is perfect for my daily driver truck. This product was delivered on-time (2days) in an official Toyota box weighing 14lbs. I would definitely recommend buying if you are looking for an easy DIY to add an entire new look to your truck.

This is definitely the best principal part that I have purchased for my Tacoma. I read numerous reviews that this skid plate was cheap and flimsy.I will tell you that this definitely is a quality product from Toyota. The skid plate will not stop a bullet, but will protect your truck from road debris shooting at you on the freeway. The skid plate was easy to install and was definitely less expensive buying it on Amazon.

OEM skid at a great price. 10 minute install for a nice look that adds some depth to the front of my Tacoma. Don't expect to mow down many zombies as it's not the thickest but it's plenty thick to deflect rocks and some small debris.

I have seen some reviews about this item that are not accurate. This Skid plate will actually protect you car. It's thick enough to take a bitting from rocks and other debris. I'de say it is about '" which can withstand a lot of pounding when installed correctly.Maybe some people actually got some copy that is not the actual OEM part. What I got is nice and sturdy.I recommend this product as long as you get the OEM PT212-35075 one.
