It works as advertised - requires windows and user interaction to use their app or a very strange way of pasting data into an editor. I have my Caps-lock key remaped to a Ctrl key so I can't use that hotkey to use it. I was hoping it would just present it self as a Com port that I could read data from in an automated way, but it doesn't. The button on the device does work to put data into an editor. I haven't installed the app since that isn't how I wanted to use it, so can't comment on that.

This device appears to work reasonably well (temp sensor isn't very good even with on a USB extension cord so it's not absorbing computer heat) in Windows. However, the instructions of using the red button (which are pretty simple: hold in for one second) are either wrong or this unit was bad.

I have an observatory on my property for astronomy, but if it gets too hot in there it could damage the equipment. I have looked for months to find a USB based thermostat that will display the temperature right on the observatory's computer screen. Then I use Remote Desktop to view it from my office. This couldn't be better. It works great. Reliable. Easy to use. Easy to install. Just install the driver from the CD, and then plug this in a USB slot. It starts immediately. The pictures I included with this review show the temperature and humidity readings over several days. That is why the graph goes up and down like that. The temperature "number" shown on the screen is always current. You can view the temperature only (as I do), the humidity only, or both at the same time (as shown in the second picture I posted). The interesting thing about this device is that the temperature is quite accurate. I didn't expect that from a small, inexpensive USB device. But I also keep a local, calibrated thermostat in the observatory, and this thing is always within 1 or 2 degrees from that. The device also has the ability to calibrate it if needed. I didn't need to.I understand that this also logs temperature an humidity, but I have not used that function. Nevertheless, if this is at good at logging as it is with everything else, I am sure it works great.
