I read the reviews was pretty skeptical but every other brand had the same reviews. Went ahead on bought this I didn’t have to drill anything I removed all the remaining gears inside the trans installed this with the rods still installed into the trans it fit perfect I did not loctite the locking bolt I did check to make sure it was tight and it was. I have about 8 hours on this slash with lipo batteries. Tires are fine. Motor stays at normal temp, it does wheelies now, does driftie boys all day. No problems what so ever so far and I beat the heck out of it. Great buy and for the price can you really say no?

Nice addition to my drifter. Before installing tighten the two set screws that keep it in place. After I installed mine it was great for all of 2 mins before mine broke loose and was spinning on the shaft. Had to remove and tighten with some lock tight then reinstall. But as I said before, nice product for the price. Will be purchasing more for my other builds.

I have seen all the bad reviews and decided to buy it anyways. When i received it i used red thread lock and torqued it down with a new allen wrench that fit tight in the grub screws; i have ran 7 lipos running 2.2 sandpaw paddle tires and still running strong. as long as you know what your doing, with rc car driving, you cannot break this diff locker.

The part is nicely made, and fits perfectly. I assembled the diff using all Hot Racing Parts. Gearbox and planetary gear. Went together well. Tested on carpet, worked good. Took outside and nothing but a whirring noise. AFTER DISASSEMBLING THE ENTIRE GEARBOX AGAIN, which is a pain in the butt, found the set screws in the locker were loose. made a groove in the shaft. I filed a flat spot, and reassembled, seems to work fine. that's a few hours of my life wasted. Hopefully the repair holds. Would have been a better rating if it didn't fail, but a nice part overall.

Lets just say not modified with a brushless setup its probably no good. I modified it Slightly and its awesome with no issues. Even works with the a/m rpm trans case. Installed on a rusted 2wd electric with a 5200kv brushless. 2s lipo hav not tried 3s cand stop breaking axles lol. But after shaving the one side flat for the 2nd set screw and using lock tight wich (should just be common sense). it works outstanding. 10 batteries of abuse and 2 sets of steel axles broken 😬 it holds up.

2 issues with this item. (used in a Slash 2WD)1) If you have been in the "Traxxas 2388X Complete Planetary Gear Differential with Steel Ring Gear", Then you know there 4 pins that hold gears. Those 4 pins get re-used with this "Hot Racing TE125 Differential locker spool" (may not need them at all but this Locker is manufactured with holes in it to use the old pins). Those holes are where the 1st problem is. Maybe its just the one i got but they are manufactured slightly out of position which cause the pins to be crooked when installed ultimately leading to not being able to put the planetary gear back together. With out modifications, you can only use 1 pin, 2 if you are lucky.2) Once i got around problem one, It only took 10 to 15 min of play to discover problem 2. Keep in mind, The slash being used has been upgraded to the Traxxas Velineon motor 3351R and also using 2 cell batteries. That is apparently too much power for this Locker because after that 10 to 15 minutes of play, The rod going through the middle of the blue flange started free spinning and here is why........ As you can see in the attached pics, The rod only had 1 flat even though there are 2 set screws to hold the rod from spinning. There was enough power to cause the set screws to round the edge of the flat on the rod and start spinning. With that said, this is what I did to fix it........ I took a dremel and grinded the 1 flat that was already there to make it bigger and then made one identical to it 180° from the old one. I put the flange and rod back together and using A LOT of heavy duty thread locker, tightened the 2 set screws onto the flats and let it dry. I was heavy enough on the thread locker that I am pretty sure it is bonding the rod to the flange for that little bit of extra help/strength. I am sorry I dont have pics of the work I did to fix it (thought of it too late). Hope this helps anyone/everyone.

Fits well only thing is to check the grub screws as mine loosened off after my first run and the center pin spun in the aluminum block

I run this on a slash 2wd and it makes a big difference off road. If you run mostly concrete I would advise against adding this. It's hard on the drive lines and causes understeer big time. Off road in low traction conditions it improves acceleration and handling.I run tekno m6 drive shafts and metal hubs so the week spot for me is the plastic wheels, so you want to be careful if you run cheap wheels. I find that proline wheels hold up the best.
