About this item

  • Has one input, one output and two separate selectable effects loops (Send/Return), plus an A/B toggle that is controllable by the JHS Red Remote switching system
  • The foot-switch is 100% true bypass, so when it’s off, it's not affecting your signal in any way
  • Functions as an A/B True Bypass Looper, a Simple True Bypass Looper, an A/B Box, an Amp Input Switcher, and an Effects Loop A/B
  • Because of the red remote function you can place the Switchback and any effects in its loops completely out of sight under your pedal board or in a rack while only having the small 1x1” Red Remote accessible
  • The Switchback could become an essential utility in your touring rig or studio, helping you solve many switching puzzles with your rig

The JHS Pedals Switchback is a small unassuming box with a massive feature set. It began its life as a device that we designed just for ourselves to test and compare pedals in the JHS workshop but we soon realized that it was extremely useful for everyone’s guitar rig on stage or in the studio. The Switchback has one input, one output and two separate selectable effects loops (Send/Return), plus an A/B toggle that is controllable by our Red Remote switching system. The foot-switch is 100% true bypass, so when it’s off, it's not affecting your signal in any way.

It works, and I can operate it from some switch outputs from my G-System, but not on my Plethora; so I have to get one of their footswitches. That should have been part of the design, instead of that useless toggle that you can't really use at all live. JHS usually has better designs that that. That's the only negative.

I have found a few uses for this pedal that I really like.Connect two different pedals that you want to compare to it, one on the A circuit, one on the B circuit. Connect a switch pedal, and then flip them back and forth to see which pedal is better or if they are the same. Much better than stopping, switching patch cables, and then playing again to compare. When performing, you can set up a group of pedals you need to switch to during a song on one of the circuits. While playing, stepping on the switch to go from A to B flips on the whole group so you don't need to hit three or four switches in a beat or two to engage / disengage the effect. The pedal isn't something everyone needs but works flawlessly if you do need it.

Very transparent, noise free. This should be expected as I imagine it's just a bunch of relays in here, but it does it well.
