When I bought my truck used, I never noticed that it didn't have a spare. Once I looked under there, I could see the clip swinging around, and half of it was worn and rusted off. It wouldn't even hold a spare, so I knew I needed to replace it.I found this spare tire winch for a reasonable price, and it was easy to install with the two bolts already on there. I recommend using an impact drill or electric screwdriver, because it took a long time by hand! Once the winch is bolted on, you use the kit behind the rear seat to raise/lower it. I moved the spare directly under the winch, on the ground, with the outside of the rim facing up. Then, use the tool with the square end to raise up the tire until it's snug.Overall, it was a great purchase, and it gave me the peace of mind of having a spare under my truck!

Everything fit fine, shipped on time, and works just fine. Only issue was that the connector that is plastic doesn't secure well and had to reattach when replacing spare tire. But, this doesn't stop it's functionality in the end. Good price, easy to replace, and gets the job done.

Works great! Very simple to install, works exactly how it should. I’ve been toting around my spare in the back of my truck for a couple of weeks with it taking up valuable space. Really happy that I bought this mount. It’s held in by just one bolt so it’s very simple to replace and mounting your spare is really straight forward. The cable is sturdy and thick. I’m not a huge fan of the use of a cable rather than some sort of bracket or something. Where I live I could see these cable rusting out over time and running the risk of the spare falling out while driving. I’m sure it would take quite a while for that to happen though and this will likely outlast my truck with how rusty my frame is. Overall a great product at a reasonable price.Ease of installation: 10/10Build quality: 8.5/10Price: 9/10Functionality: 10/10

I bought my truck used and it did not have a tire hoist (in fact, all of the spare tire hardware was gone, but thanks to Amazon, it is all back and brand new). This seems like a sturdy replacement and was very easy to install. So far, my tire is still tucked up under the bed of my truck (hopefully I will never need it).I did have to lower the tire to perform some wiring work, and it lowered and raised back up again without any problems.

After being installed for 3 years, I lower the tire down to clean the rim. It will not raise the tire back up. It binds up with any amount of resistance. This is the first time I used it , so I change my review from perfect fit to JUNK

So, I bought a truck from my father... a 2006 Chevy Z-71. He recently had a flat and needed road size assistance to change it for him (he's 70). They came out, and after 3 hours, still couldn't get the tire out from under the truck. They wound up having to cut the steel cable to get it out from under there. Turns out, there's a safety catch on the OE version, that even after it is lowered, it holds it up and won't release the tire without some additional catch being depressed on the holder. If you don't know about this "feature"... you are out of luck. So, when I got the truck, the spare tire was in the back, and the OE tire winch was inoperable due to the cut cable. I ordered this one from Amazon, and when it came in, I watched a few videos to see how to install it (that's where I found out about the secondary safety feature). This one doesn't have that secondary "catch" and therefore lets the tire down with ease. It installed like a charm (once I broke the single nut free holding the original part in place... use PB Blaster and let it sit for a minute before working on it). I couldn't be more pleased with how it came out. No more spare in the bed of the truck!
