I was replacing my original kyb factory struts on my 96 probe gt..Trying to find a match, these were cross referenced with the original so I thought they would be ok..My originals were the ones that came on the car and had lost the nitrogen pressure but still had the damping..These were much softer than the factory struts and I have a feeling that the damping rates were catered to the 4cyl base version probe and Not the gt, though kyb only specified this one strut to work on Both cars..they did not offer a specific option for the gt...Ford themselves however, specify a disticntly different damper for the gt and base models, both kyb but both different..Only that these are installed on the car and its aligned, I would have sent them back as I am dissatisfied...I wish manufacturers would be more specific in their parts cross referencing so that things like this wouldnt happen.its not that the dampers dont work, its just that the compression and rebound damping are to light and soft compared to original oem kyb the car came with...this leads to a wallowing ride and poor transition control when taking lefts and rights...Im writing this review to help anyone else from making the same mistake... now IF you have a 4cyl base probe, you will probably like these but its dissapointing to swap out ur 200,000mi old gt kyb struts for these new ones and find Less ride control! The Other disconcerting factor was that the strut in the sellers image looked like my original in design but what arrived in the box looked completely different with a chrome stricker cap instead of a welded one...I was almost going to return them base on this but kyb said some of their struts are made this way..I thought they may have been knockoffs...Ive included pics of what was delivered..as you can see, these do not at all look like the sale image... hope this helps others...An Update: The seller was kind enough to offer a full refund on the item without asking for it to be pulled off the car and returned...I would give the seller high marks for standing behind their sales...I would Recommend that the Seller pull the incorrect part picture and post a Picture of the Actual part such as what I received so as to make it easier for buyers to be sure they are getting what they are seeing here online.... my review above is reflecting Only on the strut itself and its performance on My car.
