About this item

  • Adds up to 25% more damping performance over original equipment shocks
  • Components and valving designed specifically for Mazdas
  • High gas pressure design provides instant, extra control
  • monotube design outperforms all other standard shock absorbers
  • Unique, air-free, hydraulic unit eliminates performance fade

The KYB Gas-a-Just monotube shock absorber has additional performance advantages over the traditional twin-tube design: It can instantly, automatically adjust to your performance needs and never experiences fade due to aeration. The Gas-a-Just is available as an OE monotube replacement and as an OE twin-tube performance upgrade. The KYB Gas-a-Just has two separate working chambers: An air-free hydraulic piston and valve area for responsiveness & control, and a second high-pressure nitrogen gas area with a floating piston that provides a comfortable ride during normal driving and adds instant performance on demand.

Liked the improvement in handling, easy install, but the last set only lasted 20,00 miles, one was completely blown out and the other one was leaking oil.

Installed it in a Mazda5 2015. After 2.5 months the 1st one fails and the 2nd one after 3 months, this shocks making rattling noise. Called support, a quick respond and send the replacement. Im just worried that this replacement will do the same after 3 months.

These mount right up. Get the boot and bumper. I did not realize they were as old as the shocks. Get the mount bc the replacement comes with larger mounting nuts. These feel responsive and are super affordable, let's see how long they last.

I had this installed on my 2004 Mazda 3. Handling is noticeably better now.

At start, i bought the excel-g one but too much smooth for a mazdaspeed 3. Now, its a great feeling with the gas-a-just one. Much stiffer than the excel-g. Same feeling than the koni yellow for the half of the price. Rear gas-a-just with the front excel-g one is a great mix for good handling. I prefer to be oversteer than understeer

This shock absorber is really stiff. I had trouble compressing it to put it in place since it wants to extend before its lined up where it needs to be. I managed to install it with the help of a floor jack. One of the original shocks failed and splashed oil all over one of my rims along with my brakes and the other side is starting to get oily under the boot. Ride quality obviously became better and its stiffer than normal but it still dampens the bumps fine. It probably has something to do with the internal design of the shocks.

I installed these shocks in my 2009 Mazda 3 on 2/13/2016 and removed them on 2/26/16 because they had already started leaking and my rear end was bouncing all over the road. They have less then 600 miles on them in that time. It is mildly annoying to do the same job twice in less then two weeks because of sub standard parts. The only saving grace with the whole experience was with Amazon giving me an instant refund that was back in my account same day so I could get new shocks installed and send the old ones back. I will not be buying any KYB products ever again.

Good replacement for OEM shocks in a 2007 Mazda 5. Doesn't seem to alter ride quality much from the OEMs. Fairly easy to install. I recommend purchasing the "KYB SM5619 - Shock Mount" at the same time (or whatever the equivalent mount is for your vehicle), as my shock mounts were looking pretty ratty when I pulled them off. I had one worn out shock when I replaced the rear pair, but --in addition to fixing the skipping-along-highway-expansion-joints issues associated with a worn out shock-- I was hoping that new shocks would fix or dampen the mid-car vibration that my Mazda 5 has exhibited at about 50mph since it was new; they didn't. The vibration is still there, but that is Mazda's fault for poor resonance analysis when designing the Mazda 5 unibody, I think; can't really expect third party shocks to fix a problem that Mazda created with the original car's design.
