About this item

  • The correct, monotube-designed OEM replacement shock
  • Specifically calibrated to help restore the original handling and control characteristics of the Lexus LS
  • High gas pressure design provides instant, extra control
  • monotube design outperforms all other standard shock absorbers
  • Unique, air-free, hydraulic unit eliminates performance fade

The KYB Gas-a-Just monotube shock absorber has additional performance advantages over the traditional twin-tube design: It can instantly, automatically adjust to your performance needs and never experiences fade due to aeration. The Gas-a-Just is available as an OE monotube replacement and as an OE twin-tube performance upgrade. The KYB Gas-a-Just has two separate working chambers: An air-free hydraulic piston and valve area for responsiveness & control, and a second high-pressure nitrogen gas area with a floating piston that provides a comfortable ride during normal driving and adds instant performance on demand.

I bought four of these struts to replace my Lexus LS 460They were ok for a short time - but now my car is flat( car was not even driven much just a couple of thousand miles)and now struts have moved down to close to wheelsmeaning these struts have failedDO NOT BUY !( I would ignore the 'good reviews" - if you know what I mean

This gas shock will raise ride height roughly 1 inch this is literally made to fit big rims and tires in that way. Ride quality is way better than stock in a planted firm way the shocks both read made in Japan I sleep well at night knowing my suspension is not of cheap quality. Kyb is OEM for Lexus but if you purchase OEM you get a cheaper twin tube version these contain gas raise ride height 1 inch and ride much more planted while taking bumps better / faster

I believe Lexus uses the same KYB shock on all of their vehicles specifically the 2013 LS 460. KYB is a Japanese company Lexus is a Japanese car so go figure. As far as ride quality and performance, they ride like stock OEM shocks.

Does not feel like the original strut once installed

Just installed these as a pair on my 2008 Lexus LS 460, RWD regular length, blah blah blah. So many terms to establish with these luxury cars. My car had the factory struts until 114,000 miles, originally KYB struts to my surprise. They were not leaking, but were pretty spongy. I did not realize just how spongy until I swapped those old ones out for these new KYB struts you see listed here. These struts brought total composure to the front end of my land yacht. Before the car seemed to float around, was slow to react to larger bumps and jolts. Now, it really seems that I know where my front tires are relative to the road. Additionally, the front end feels a lot more stable, rides more flat, resists nose dive better. All around, these struts wrangle this behemoth spectacularly. Worth noting that I re-used the old coil springs that came off of the factory 114k mile struts. The car really feels like flying a plane on land (that feeling you get when you are at 30,000 feet, no turbulence; just smooth, flat consistent ride quality and feedback). I will definitely be purchasing the rear struts as well to update the rear end as well. PRO TIP: UNLESS you have good experience working on suspension/springs, I would highly recommend taking these and the old strut/spring assembly to a shop to get the old coil spring swapped over. Or if you have to deal with compressing a spring at all with regards to this particular Lexus and you have never dealt with these springs, I am telling you now, the rental kit from O’Reilly’s and your standard impact gun will BARELY be enough. Meaning, you’ll eventually get it, but with that sketchy rental O’Reilly’s special, I didn’t personally feel comfortable standing next to it. So bare that sort of thing in mind - I fought one for 2 hours. The next one I paid the well-worth $25 to get the other mounted up. Sometimes it’s worth the sacrifice.Summary: Car is planted now, provides better feedback to driver, and car drives like new. Well-worth the purchase and highly recommend these struts for this vehicle!EDIT 1/8/23:I’ve now had these on for around 2 years on the dot, and am currently at 138,000 miles and some change. Struts are still doing great; noleaks, performance is as expected. I will mention I have noticed what seems to be a little bit of a squeaky bushing from where I thought was around the shaft of the strut itself. The car squeaks just a little in the front while going over larger bumps. However, control arms are a known issue with these cars and it is likely this squeaking could be originating from one of those bushings. I tend to doubt this theory, however, as I have since replaced all of those since my last update to this review (at around 118,000 miles). Am debating on spraying some silicone dry lubricant or something to the effect on the suspected areas. Very much still a 5-star product however.
