I ordered two of these- a 500 mL and a 1000 mL. I was expecting to get the usual thin walled, lightweight flask that seems to be everywhere you look. What I wasn’t expecting was super heavy duty, professional grade glassware. But that is exactly what I received.Everything about this set is made from quality materials. It reminds me of the old heavy Pyrex glass of days past. The packaging it arrived in, was perfectly designed to protect all the items in the set, though as thick as the glass is, it would probably be just fine without it. That’s how tough this glass is. But the best part is, the packaging can be used to store the set when not in use as everything easily fits back in the box. Also included is the fittings and the hoses to attach to the nipple for the vacuum. And again even the nipple is made of the same thick tough glass to avoid breakage. The clamp that is included is made of strong materials and has a strong grip that holds the parts together tightly and securely. The filter itself appears to be a fine glass frit.Whatever your needs may be for filtering, this will meet your needs. Note that you will need a vacuum pump as that, of course is not included. But with that vacuum, you will be able to filter even the finest of particles with ease using this set. I was a little leery of the price, but don’t let that bother you. It is worth every penny. I’ve gone through so much glassware trying to save money and found that it’s much worth it to spend a little extra on the front end to get better quality as you are not replacing it all of the time.

I have a Buchner filter which uses pre-cut filter papers, but the problem with filter paper-based filters is they tend to fall completely apart when trying to filter out strongly acidic or basic solutions. You wind up with more junk to filter than you started with. This fritted glass Buchner filter is ideal for filtering substances which would destroy a filter paper. The glass is delightfully thick, and the entire apparatus is very well made, with precision grinds on the glass that mate up and seal perfectly. It has a vacuum nozzle that's plastic, which unlike some which are part of the glass itself, should be replaceable if it happens to break, and it's nice that you can orient it to best work with your setup. The clamp is also made well and clamps securely, and the included length of vacuum hose is very high quality as well. The whole thing works great, and is a much-needed addition to my vacuum filtration capabilities, as I've destroyed more than a few filter papers trying to filter things that it's just not made for.If you're just getting into vacuum filtration, I highly recommend getting both types (fritted and filter paper) of Buchner filters, as they both serve very specific needs. This one is an excellent choice for a fritted glass Buchner filter, and it's definitely worth taking a look at. 5 stars.

I have a CPAP device and am constantly buying jugs of distilled water for it. When I saw this, I wondered how it would work, since the only distillation method I was aware of is the moonshine "boiling water and condensing" method. To put it bluntly, there's some sort of magic happening in that little white stone that gets all the little particles out that I don't understand. The upside is that I've been breathing the vapors for a week now and haven't had any problems. Usually, tap water in my CPAP gives me a sore throat, but whatever mumbo jumbo they've got happening here is working to keep me comfortable. I don't understand it, but I like it.I was also impressed by the overall quality of the build. The glass is thick, the metal is sturdy, and the whole thing feels like something way more expensive than it actually costs.
