I never did it before, but watched youtube for instruction. No problem... The 30 minute job took about two hours. I relaxed, carefully, patiently cleaning all the sticky stuff from the laptop.This Dell Inspiron's 15 screen started leaking transparent optical adhesive about 5 years ago. Eventually the screen was unwatchable and I used an external monitor.Finally got around to fixing it. The photo shows the cable connector. That's where the glue escaped.... that one location. There's some sort of passage for wiring and It was able to drain through, and made a mess.. Alcohol dissolves it pretty well.I think the adhesive binds the touchscreen layers to the screen.

The colours looked fine the screen, not washed out etc. Fast shipping, well packaged. The screen had a snug fit around the side and bottom edges of the lid but the area around the webcam had shifted slightly out of alignment with the frame and could not be corrected.This meant that the webcam could not be centered in the original holes and the top edge of the screen would not stay clipped in place. The screen doesn't use any adhesive so the tolerances of the clips have to match the original.The 40pin connector on the back worked fine but the area where the fastener latched onto was covered with the black plastic which made it slightly more difficult to install than normal. I used a prying tool to hold up the edges of the plastic while slowly working the fastener latch around the connector. On the plus side it's unlikely to ever disconnect.

Screen frame did not install or fit like original. It was much more difficult to install this screen than the original Dell unit. The screen comes on & the computer functions but the colors are very dull and bleached, even when the settings are at maximum. The touchscreen only worked in a few spots in the center when it was received, now it is completely non-functional. It seems to have screwed up the front facing camera also. Also, we must pay again [twice] to replace the screen. Also, we no longer have the original screen & must return this bad screen by Sep 1 or they will bill us for the replacement screen also, and no refund, and shipping indicates we will not get a replacement until Nov 1. So, we are forced to pull out this screen & have no computer at all for over 2 months, or pay for this bad screen and installs twice

I installed this replacement screen on my 2016 Dell Inspiron 7579. The installation went as expected - got to be careful/gentle with those little electrical connectors. The screen is slightly washed out (whiter) than the original, but it's not bad enough to do anything about it, and the touchscreen works fine so I am able to use my laptop without an external monitor again, so I consider this a solid DIY success.

Well it's working, so far so good. I got this lcd and also a new battery for my Dell Inspiron 15 7579 2in1 laptop/notebook with 40 pin connector and rounded corners. Fit like a glove. Took about 30 minutes to disassemble everything. I followed ifix online instructions and a YouTube video for 'how to' steps to disassemble. The biggest unknowns are a couple of the connectors are micro and different than anything most people have seen so to figure out how to remove those was the probably the hardest part. Rerouting the wire harness around the LCD is a bit tedious also. Took about 45 minutes to reassemble everything. Then the moment of truth and voila....everything is working just like before but with a brand new fully functional LCD screen with no leaks, clouding, washout, drips etc.... I'll update this review if anything changes but I think this screen only has 3 months warranty, not very long, but I assume if still working after 3 months it's probably good to go for another 5+ years like the original LCD screen did. One other thing....the only tools you really need are a very small philips screwdriver and some small plastic or metal spudges for disconnecting and reconnecting the cable connectors and popping off some double sided tape holding the video camera assembly and some other connector bodies etc...You will also need some very bright lights, magnifying glasses, reading glasses, etc....since everything you will be working on is micro in nature. This isn't very hard to replace the LCD screen and you really don't need that much experience, but some basic computer knowledge, a little mechanics, some craftiness, can follow instructions, patience, etc....will make it much easier and more successful. Just take your time, label all the screws and parts for reassembly, and you'll be fine. Otherwise, before I found this screen, I found a couple places that fix computers and they charged $100 flat fee, plus the cost of the parts, to fix the laptop. I figured I could do it myself and spend the $100 on fishing stuff lol. I also replaced the battery which was even easier. Just pop the back off, 10 screws total, and there it is. Remove two screws holding the battery, disconnect the cable from the motherboard, swap out the battery, reconnect, rescrew, and you're finished. So I'll update if anything changes. This is only day 1....

This is a delicate item with some tiny connectors and requires a steady hand and some patience to install. It was purchased to replace a leaking touch screen, something I found out later that are problematic by nature so I purchased a four year extended warranty. It was a little tricky getting the camera harness dressed into the very narrow channel around the screen; you need to be careful and take your time, but you'll eventually get it in there. So far I'm very pleased with this display. It's just as bright and crisp as the original.

Just what i needed. Its like having a brand new computer. Make sure you get the pin count and screen shape for your computer(mine was 40 pin not 30 and round not square at the bottom).
