I painted all of ours with a metallic acrylic blend of paint. They were as pictured, small enough for a child. However, for some reason they are very quiet. Also, before I could give them out, they had to have 3 coats of paint because the wood was very soft porous material.The children with sensory problems, loved them.All in all, they were worth the money and effort.

Perfect size for little hands. My baby loves smacking them on different surfaces. It sounds pleasant which us parents appreciate in a toy haha gave some away as gifts. Everyone is happy!

we use this as a kids craft during our childrens birthday party. the kids were able to easily paint and decorate them. yes eventually the game became who could toss them the furthest, and by the laws of statistics another guest felt a long toss make contact. that being said everyone after rough play and time in the water everyone still had their maracas to take home.
