Internal Thread Size: M8*1.25; Nut External Diameter: 15.3mm, Length: 25mm
How to Use:
1. Pre-drill, drill a well-sized hole first with tools, the following is drilling specification reference, when the material is high-hardness, please enlarge the hole.
M8x25mm, Suggest that the diameter of the hole is 14.3 +/- 0.3mm, the length is about 30mm;
2. Use the proper internal hex tool to screw in. Warm tips: You can use vise or clip to clamp the both sides while inserting the nuts to wooden board, which can effectively reduce cracking.

These broke when I got them 3/4 of the way into a pre drilled hole and now theyβre stuck there. Donβt buy these for anything other than the softest woods.

I liked that the inserts could be installed with a ball end hex bit. Before attempting installation, I decided to measure the external diameter. If the OD is really15.3 mm and the recommended hole is 14.3 mm, that would leave 0.5 mm around the circumference to hold the insert in the wood and that doesnβt seem like a lot. Note that 14.3 mm is about 0.563β (or 9/16β). Using a dial caliper, I measured the OD to be about 0.560β β clearly a hole smaller than 9/16β will be required. Looking at the dimensions on the 5/16β-18 threaded inserts I'd used on another project, I noted a delta of 0.115β between the OD of the insert and the minor diameter of the threads that engage the wood. Using that as a baseline, the hole size for the M8 fasteners would be 0.560 β 0.115 or 0.445 (just a bit more than 7/16β (but not quite 29/64β). I used a 7/16β Forstner bit in a Portalign and it worked great. Prior to drilling the 7/16" hole, I used a 9/16" Forstner bit in the Portalign to counter bore a relief for the insert shoulder. Installation with a 8 mm ball end hex driver completed the job. They look and work fantastic!

This is easy to use, I tried a variety of drill sizes in fir, and ended up using a 7/16β bit to get a snug fit without splitting. Harder wood may need to go a bit bigger on hole diameter.

I wanted to add 6 legs to our new 3x4 Kallax shelf, but when I grabbed the Stubbarp legs I didnt realize what screws they came with needed these inserts. I wrongly assumed they were double-sided screws that i could just pop in. So I needed to order these inserts, and someone prior mentioned they used these for the same purpose!I don't have a hex wrench big enough on hand so I just drilled a hole with 3/8" bit, put the leg screw in the leg, added the insert to the screw and then screwed the legs into place like one giant knob. Worked!Just be very careful not to drill through the other side of the Kallax (the ends of the long side board are hollow but the middle has thick ply). I spaced the legs so they were one leg width away from the edges, and had I not done that on the corners the small ledge from the short top boards would block you from screwing the legs down all the way without a hex wrench. For reference I have ours laying "sideways" so it's x4 across and x3 high, and the end boards for the x3 side are the cap pieces to the shelf so there is a little lip overlapping the x4 board, which you can see in my photo of the leg screwed on.

These hold in my 12 in subwoofer plating at a constant of 1250watts. It pulls and pushes a lot on the threading. With wood screws that had thick threading the sub was able to shake and rip the screws out.With these insert nuts the threads are a lot more sturdy than just the mdf holding in to the screw itself.Any high power appliance that is normally bolted down to wood or other materials softer than this metal that may shake, push or pull could most likely benefit from these holding them down.

Really I feel these should be 3 star rated but....First of all I don't know where they got the 14mm drill size idea from. The outer threading on these things are 14mm, so if you drill a 14mm hole they will just slide in and out of it. I think we ended up drilling a 10 or 11mm hole and that was perfect.Secondly I ordered two packs of these along with the bolts that have plastic knobs on them.The first pack was perfect, the bolts screwed down perfectly. When I started to install the first one from the second pack, the bolt was tight and would only screw down half way. I then took out the remaining ones and tried them before installing them and none of them in that pack had the right thread pitch for the bolts. So i ended up having to use a Dremel and cut the bolts short so that none of them needed to screw more than half way down. This was a very tedious and time consuming piece of work and would not have been doable if the bolts had any serious kind of load on them. So it's really a game of Russian roulette as to whether you will get the right threading size in the pack you ordered. BTW both packs have the same label code on them.
