Protect Before The Damage Happens
The first ridge is to strengthen the differential, the second is the mounting location for the differential cover; you DO NOT want to damage these locations.
The MetalCloak Differential Skid Plate (DSP) encases the vulnerable hang up locations with 3/16" steel, providing a smooth and protective surface to glide over the rocks. Protection with a simple bolt-on solution.

I figured this wouldn't fit my D44 jeep JK perfectly as I did some fabrication/welding to my D44 axle. I welded my D44 tubes into the diff housing and this skid relies on that exact area for fitment. It locates at the edge of the diff housing/tub area to stop any side to side movement. The weld fillet prevents this from seating in that location. You also cant use this with a D44 truss (a full ARTEC style truss) as it uses 2 cheesy U bolts as seen in the picture to clamp around the axles tubes. The front pinion area U bolt works fine. I bough this knowing I had to trim some skid plate tabs at the top and make a new retainer that fastened straight to my truss. Works and fits perfect now after modifying it. I wasn't worried about welding or cutting the skid plate as I powder coated it after the test fitting.

Quick installation, although you need a 19mm socket. Not your normal socket you carry in the garage. Looks great tho and withstands a good smacking on rocks
