I had only used post style holders in the past and wanted something with a longer reach, easier positioning, and a fine adjust suitable for a tenths indicator. This holder fit that bill perfectly. It is solid, stable, and the base bottom and back are as flat and square as I can measure. The dual fine adjustment is a great feature. The one on the base allows for a more steady hand when zeroing a dial tenths indicator. The only flaw for me, if one can even call it that, is the very close tolerance on the 3/8" indicator stem mount. I have to spread the dovetail side of the mount before the indicator will slide in. Other than that I have only high praise for this holder.Update: after some other purchases my ability to accurately measure has improved. I re-measured the squareness of the magnetic base and found that it is in fact 0.007" out of square over the height of the base resulting in an angle of 90.191 degrees between the bottom and back. This is not a problem, just something to be aware of. My five star rating still stands.
