The Mitutoyo Series 527 Vernier Depth Gauges, Some with Fine Adjustment, Caliper Type, Metric, depending on the model, have a measurement range from 0 to 150mm to 0 to 1000mm, a resolution (or smallest graduation interval) of either 0.02 or 0.05mm, with + or – 0.03 to 0.15mm of accuracy. The vernier scale provides precise measurements. Some models provide a fine adjustment screw for taking precise measurements. These gauges are made of hardened steel and the bases of the units and measuring faces are hardened and lapped for durability and accuracy. An optional wider extension base is sold separately. Depth gauges are typically used in manufacturing, machining, and mechanical engineering.

Depth gauges are precision measuring instruments used to determine the depth of any shape that has a step, groove, or slot. These gauges often take the form of sliders that travel on a measuring beam or rods, are moved to position by hand, and then adjusted with a calibrated screw. The base of the gauge rests at the top of the shape whose recession is to be measured, while the beam or rods extend to the bottom of the recession to determine the measurement. Gauge position is read from a graduated scale, dial, counters, or an electronic display.

Mitutoyo manufactures precision measuring tools, metrology equipment, and related systems. The company, founded in Tokyo in 1934, formed Mitutoyo America Corporation in 1963 with headquarters in Aurora, IL.

Das Werkzeug ist sicher gut, dennoch fühle ich mich betrogen!

These are Up to Mitutoyo's usual standards: well made, with spacious/easy-to-read scales, and are very crisp in operation. "Made in Japan". The 530-102 model (200mm metric vernier depth gauge) offers a thumb-wheel, which locks to the center scale separately and offers very fine adjustment through a range of 6mm or so.Also note that Mitutoyo supplies their tools (at least at this price level) in a flimsy vinyl case packaged in an equally flimsy carboard box (versus other brands, which are supplied in a relatively sturdy hard case). On top of that, mine was shipped to me in a padded envelope, not a box. Surprisingly, mine arrived with no damage in transit.

The quality is typical Mitutoyo. Very well made and reasonably priced. The only thing I would ask for is a hard case instead of the thin plastic sleeve it comes with for storage.
