Leaks from emergency brake piston. These have a design flaw. Second one. Leaks as the first did.

This was a perfect replacement for the OEM caliper. Everything worked perfectly and the unit was only 1/10th the price of OEM.

First off, this is not OEM. It looks similar, but the piston/cylinder is hollow faced instead of flat with a ( + ) plus on it like OEM Yamaha. You can’t turn it because of that. The bleeder screw is larger than OEM. The Banjo screw is same as OEM. The parking brake mechanism is same as OEM. But the worst is that the cylinder bottoms out sooner than OEM, so you cannot open the caliper fully flush with the caliper body. The cylinder remains out about 1/4” at the bottom of its travel. For my Yamaha Rhino 660, this made it not able to open enough to fit around my new disk rotor and new pads. The extra 1/4” made it too snug to fit on. I was very dissapointed, because otherwise, the build quality was good. I kept it, because I just used all the parts I could and transferred them to my OEM Yamaha caliper. The parking brake assembly, the banjo screw and the mounting frame with the sliding pins…I used all those, which probably cost more sold individually than as this complete assembly. But it was disappointing that the piston bottomed out while still protruding 1/4” too far. The Yamaha OEM caliper this replaces opens all the way flush with the body of the caliper. So…mixed success.

tried everything to get the rear brakes to stop dragging on a 2005 Yamaha rhino, cleaned and lubed the guide pins , nothing worked , finally as a last ditch effort I ordered this caliper . ProblemSolved! Brakes are cool to the touch driving down the street and back , before I couldn’t drive more than 100 yards without them smoking . As far as the parking brake adjustment screw goes , just take the one out of your oem caliper and screw it into this caliper, it’s the perfect length . I re-used the Allen screw and the nut from the oem. Four star because it definitely isn’t the same quality as oem but it works! Oem parts just aren’t worth the cost because rhinos aren’t that valuable anymore .
