Install the wooden part on the wall and then when to to put the foam cover metal part. Thankfully, I noticed that something was loose before putting the weight of my guitar on it. I noticed one of the legs felt like it was vending. Took it down and pulled the foam off. Please see the pics. You'll see on of the metal legs that holds your guitar was broken. So double check before hanging your axe on this.

This hanger isn't very well made. But I guess at this price you shouldn't expect a lot. The plastic posts that the metal hanger fits in can get loose and fall out of the wood hole. This is a bit scary if you want to hang your nice guitar on it. Also it was too long and the guitar would hang too far out from the wall. The wood piece has a gloss finish. Just letting others know because I didn't know that when I bought it.

this guitar stand works very well, it is easy to set up. only a couple of screws.I picked this guitar stand because i knew it would save room on floor space. it also is simple enough to fit in with most rooms.since it has those little gripers I can also put my banjo, mandolin and ukulele on it.

This product is junk! I have used guitar hangers for more than 30 years and have never seen anything like this - these hangers DO NOT stay in place and can damage your instrument(s). I have used similar wooden hangers that are terrific, but the shaft of these does not lock into place and the entire plastic housing that the hanger inserts into comes out.
