Great bit of kit, easy to use, instructions included - fast disassembly too.Just make sure you grease the threads on the rod to make it smoother.

Surprisingly easy to use...took longer to remove/install shocks on bike then it did to change the springs. I’m always hesitant using compression tools as getting hit in the face suck, this tool took away any of my fears. Solid tool, confident in its use for future spring swaps.

Bought a used one on Amazon and it showed up as new, unused in original packaging. We’ll see how it works. I do recommend lubing the threads with grease first, they are dry in the packaging. This may explain other users having stripped thread experiences.Updated- Sept 2020. Works perfectly. Not sure why others had issues. Barely takes any effort at all.

Do not buy this tool. I was fortunate enough to try it on a spare shock I had lying around first. The threads on the tool stripped after one use (on a progressive shock no less). I removed the cover from one shock, but was not able to even put the collar back on, making it useless. Save your money.

Worked flawlessly for the first shock. While reassembling the second shock the handle cross threaded and locked up solid. I had to beat the hook out of the shock eyelet to get it to release. Chipped the finish off the top cover.

Very good tool. Would only be able to use a couple of times though as the threads had already begun to strip after just one use. Having said that it worked very well. You do have to make up a small adapter for the top of the shock on a GL1800, to miss the preload entry point, I used a thick bit of plastic pipe and cut it out with an electric saw, worked a treat, use something strong though as there is a huge amount of power in that spring! Good Luck!

I am an un-handy type of gentleman. For the first 15 minutes I threw stuff all over the garage because I couldn't get the spring to actually compress and the tool just kept slipping down the springs. However, after I got myself back to center I realized that I needed to alight the ring on the spring right before it began to compress the spring. Worked like a charm. Great buy, but be patient.

This device works well, I am sure. It is supposed to make the very dangerous process of changing a spring on a motorcycle shock safe. The only problem is that the hook didn't fit through the hole in my ST1300 shock. I don't know what other bikes it might or might not fit.So, I resorted to "rigging something" and getting the spring changed.
