I ordered this $12 Reflex Camera phone clip (Amazon ASIN B0DJ15WQSN) because I needed a sturdy metal phone clip for hard use outside, and I do love that this clip is all metal. The Amazon listing says it's aluminum, but most of it is highly magnetic, so there's a decent amount of steel in it. The fact that there is a lot of steel is not necessarily bad, but I want you to know that a magnet stuck hard to the body and less so to the end tips. The steel is probably in the slider mechanism.The Amazon listing claims it has a "hot shoe mount," but I don't see one. A hot shoe is a bracket with electrical contacts, but this is just a metal bracket. I guess you could stretch the definition to say there is one contact, and one contact only, for the entire rectangular seat, but that's not normally what a hot shoe is all about.Strangely, the Amazon listing photos never show the ends, one of which they claim is the hot shoe mount, and the other of which is the opposite end, so I took pains to snap photos of all sides of this phone clip so that you wouldn't have to guess like I had to. Now that it's in my hands, I see that it's sturdy and all metal, and I like that the 1/4-inch by 20TPI threads are cut well. This is nice, as they won't strip even though most threaded rods will be steel and these threads are cut in aluminum.The grips have rubber inserts, which is nice and will be needed because the grips are way too short for the width of most phones when they're in a case. If you look at my photos, you'll see how puny the grips are, which is basically almost a fatal flaw in what would otherwise have been a well-made and fantastic phone clip. For some people, the grip being only 7/8ths of an inch deep may be fine, but for my phone case, I need 3/4 of an inch. Notice there's some confusion in that the Amazon listing claims the grip is 3/4 of an inch wide—and that's what I went on when I selected it—but when it arrived, I realized belatedly they measured the almost meaningless distance from the outside to the outside, which isn't even close to the grip depth that holds the phone. Caveat emptor.Overall, for a thin-cased phone, the 7/8ths-inch grip will be fine, and the lack of a bona fide hot shoe shouldn't be too much of a problem for most people either. With those flaws in mind, the rest of this phone holder is rather nice, and it's about as sturdily built as you'll ever see a phone holder design. Smooth, uniform anodized aluminum finish with no sharp or rough edges. Rubber bumpers where clip grips phone. Clip slides smoothly with even spring tension. Female threads were smooth when engaged with tripod. Overall, fit and finish were excellent.Function: Spring-loaded all metal phone clip with standard hot-shoe mount on the end that slides and 1/4”-20 UNC female threads on the center back and base end. Holds my iPhone 16 Pro securely from side-to-side, does not extend to hold it top-to-bottom.Value: Cost at this review is $11.99 (April 2025) and I feel the product is an excellent value at this price point.

This is a fantastic spring-loaded phone mount! I typically go for the screw-tightening style for peace of mind, but this mount impressed me enough to trust it with my phone. I use a Pixel 8 Pro with a Crave case, and it fits perfectly—there’s even a little room to spare, which was a pleasant surprise.The mount is low-profile but thoughtfully designed. The “teeth” that grip the phone are angled well, with just enough cushion to hold securely without scuffing. The two 1/4-20 screw holes (one on the back and one on the bottom) offer great flexibility for mounting setups.What really stands out is the all-metal construction. Nearly every plastic mount I’ve used has failed over time, but this one feels rock-solid. I don’t expect it to break anytime soon.Highly recommended if you want something dependable and well-built!

The Reflex Camera Metal Phone Clip with Hot Shoe Mount is an excellent tripod-mounted phone clip. It is made of solid aluminum and is quite heavy for its size. The clamping feet have a tough rubber coating to securely and safely hold your phone in place. The spring tension is sufficient to keep your phone secure, but not so much that clamping your phone is difficult. It clasped my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra firmly enough to prevent the slightest movement in the clip when shaken aggressively.It also features a hot-shoe style slot on top that can accommodate a ring light or strobe. Although it is not electrically connected, the slot is sturdy, works well, and is convenient. It has mounting threads on both the bottom and the back. When using the bottom threads, a microphone or another accessory may be attached to the back or vice versa.This phone clip should last for a long time and look good while doing it. It's a high-quality product that offers excellent value for its price; highly recommended.

This fits my iPhone 16 Pro Max with a Fjorden case well. (Of course it will not fit the case when the Fjorden camera controller is installed on the case.) It is made completely of aluminum alloy (must not be completely made from aluminum as it is somewhat magnetic) and has rubber pads that contact the phone. The sharp angles on the rubber covered grippers help to insure that the mount doesn't push on one of the 16's many buttons. It holds quite well and insures that the phone stays secure. The springs are strong and it takes two hands to install, especially on larger phones.I love that they included the second 1/4-20 threaded tripod mount and the camera cold-shoe. It's always nice to have options.
