This walkie talkie is by far the best, it works great for communication. I got the set of two, for easy communication while driving i keep one and I make my friend keep one while we drive on the highway and it works even 700-800 meters apart while we are driving at a speed of 120kms plus. Best of the price.

I returned these but gave them 5 stars BECAUSE they appear well made and are the best available AT THAT PRICE RANGE.I returned them because I wanted more range(in town you're looking at a little over 1/2 mile), I then got the retevis rb48 which gets about 1 1/4 miles in town.I plan on using while kayaking and I figure in open water you could get 1 1/2 to 3 miles with the h777,while the rb48 probably can get around 3 1/2 to 4 miles on open water,Both seem well made, but if you can fit it into your budget, get the rb 48.Also,although I didn't test standby time on the h777,on the rb48 you're looking at a good two days(48 hour),the battery is a little smaller on the h777, however it has no display screen to keep lit, so I figure standby time time is similar. After careful research, these are about the best buys around for a frs or a gmrs radio=to get more range then the rb48(2 watt), you have to go ham

I mean you get what you pay for, but for a simple device to communicate it's good for the price. Distance seems good and clear. Really not a bad purchase when on sale!

Amazing radios, I got about a mile away from the other one in my neighborhood and could still hear very clearly! Amazing for what you pay!

I bought these for work in construction on Nov 3rd 2024. At first, they worked very well.*long-lasting battery - More than 8 hours of use without the need to recharge*Durable for construction use and easy to clip onto a chest loop*Loud enough to hear over heavy machinery. (At first)*Easy to operateMy issue is that one of the units started to glitch out after about 2 weeks, and now is about half the volume of the other one, which makes it very hard to hear now.I will contact the seller and see if they can resolve the issue and provide an updateUPDATE:I contacted the seller and they were quick to reply and very friendly and understanding. After I told them the issue that I had with the product they sent me another set of walkie-talkies that have been working fine. I will buy from this seller again I I ever need another set in the future.

The Retevis H777 Walkie Talkies are solid for basic communication needs. The battery life is impressive, lasting a long time even with frequent use, which is great if you're out all day. The range is around 1km on a straight line, so it's best for smaller areas like parks or around the neighborhood. The build is sturdy, and the buttons are easy to use, making them beginner-friendly. They’re not going to reach long distances, but for short-range communication, they get the job done. Overall, good value for the price.

When I made the purchase of these radios, I was a bit nervous. I was ordering them for a fire cadet program for use on trainings and on scenes. When they arrived, I was also a tad skeptical because of how light weight they were. However I can now say with confidence that these radios are fantastic and well worth the money to get.The radios have been dropped, had a little water splashed onto them, and have seen some action. Needless to say, they surpassed my expectations. The radios proved to have a very wide range, and with the 16 channels, there is a multitude of use to come with them. They sound crystal clear and are easy to operate. The hand mics are loud enough to be able to hear what is said, and the transmission is seamless. The flashlight, though not incredibly bright, only being a single LED, served the purpose it was intended and made sight in darker situations easier. For our fire service application of these little radios, they've served their purpose, and I just put in an order for a second batch. I would highly recommend these radios for any purpose.

I bought these primarily so we could communicate between two cars following each other on a recent family road trip vacation from Texas to Florida. I am not sure if car speed has any impact on how well the radios work but at times there was static while we were doing about 70+ mph and we could barely understand what the other was trying to say, even with both cars in view of each other. Perhaps there were other radio interference but I'd say 90 percent of the time, we were able to communicate clearly without any difficulties hearing one another, even at high speeds. However, at one point, we were separated by about 2 or 3 miles and could not communicate at all while doing speeds of about 60+ mph. For speeds at or below 40 I don't recall encountering any issues. Battery life seems decent. I left them on for about 2 days with moderate use before the batteries would get low.I have not used these for any other purpose such as hiking so I cannot comment on the true range and clarity but for the price range and use we got on our road trip I am happy with the overall purchase.

Just received them, they look used. The manual has dog-eared page and creases and dings on some of the other pages, a couple of cords were only loosely coiled, the inside of the box was dinged up pretty well and there are small dings and scuffs on the radios and the chargers, and one slight scratch on one of the radios. The plastic bags containing the headsets were actually worn through from vibration/handling.I would have expected the radios and the chargers to be in plastic bags like most of the accessories were but they weren't. The scuffs and dings might be attributable to shipping damage if that's how they actually ship them from the factory. The foam covers for the ear pieces were just lying loose in the box, and the antennas and wrist straps were simply tucked down the side between the cardboard box and the formed plastic inner part. I would have expected they'd have a place in the vacuum formed plastic inner box.Not a good out-of-box experience. They power on and seem to work, the audio quality isn't as good as some very old Motorolas radios I used previously. The headset looks similar to bluetooth headsets you'd use with a phone but they're not as easy to put on. They take some fiddling to get on because the wire isn't secured along the edge. If you tug lightly on it, the wire goes straight across the 'C' shape from top to bottom and prevents the earpiece from going on. It's not horrible, it just takes a few minutes/a few tries to figure out how to get them on the ear. Put the ear bud in first, then hook the rest over the top. Seems good and secure once they're on.Audio quality of headset is good, the volume seemed loud enough. They're adequate for my uses. I didn't test their range, I only got them for communicating with a spotter while backing up a 41' motor home.2016-08-08 + one more star after additional testing (from far corner of the house to the far side of a 30'x60' detached shop building) and also for the company sending a genuine email, not a form email, expressing concern about the state of the product I received. IMO it's a good sign that they actually read and comprehend the reviews before they respond. I would like to make it clear that the product works fine, they just have some scuffs and dings that would make it harder to resell them if they hadn't been suitable for my purpose. Fortunately they work exactly as advertised and I will be keeping them.I'm attaching a photo of the packaging as I received it, you can see they had a hard ride from the factory to me.

Quick ReviewI am using these as GMRS radios, and have programmed them as such. The review is with them in this configuration. These are a really nice, light weight, reasonably powerful handheld radio. Far better than off-the-shelf GMRS versions and at a much more reasonable price. AND FANTASTIC CUSTOMER SERVICE. Also, these Chinese made radios ship from within Canada, so the delivery is quick, and no chance of getting dinged with duty at the border.I am impressed with the range. They are not fancy, and all the controls are twist (advantageous when carrying in your pocket) with a minimum of information feedback to the user – particularly if you turn off the voice prompts. Several operational options, which can be changed on the radios themselves, but I think are best changed through the program software.I like the KIS (Keep It Simple) format.Detailed ReviewGenerally, these are really nice, basic, handheld radios. They are user programmable, through a computer, and SHOULD be re-programmed if you are a Canadian user. They do come programmed, but some of the frequencies on the factory program require a license in Canada. The units themselves are slightly smaller than the usual off-the-shelf GMRS radios, but have a longer antenna. That longer antenna in itself will improve the range of the radios. Additionally, they are rated at 3 watts (when programmed on High). This will improve range as well in areas with obstructions like buildings & trees. It won't have much or any effect on hills & mountains getting in the way. As a comparison, the standard, off-the-shelf GMRS radios power is between 0.5 & 1.9 watts, to the Retevis' 3 watts.User programming of these radios is very simple with the free software. You DO need to purchase the programming cable. You must also use their free USB drivers, as Windows & Mac do not come with the needed specialty drivers. I did not note any Linux drivers, but they may be available.Once the frequency for the channel is entered, the rest of the setting default, so you do not have to worry about those settings. You can change them if you want. These radios appear to be water resistant (light rain) unless the headset or (optional) remote mike are connected. Then the resistance might be iffy. The Retevis radios are light weight so they do not weigh down your pocket, if you choose to carry them there, but the included belt clip is really quite robust and grippy. In fact so grippy, that I use the remote mike when clipped to my belt as it is not quick to detach. Mostly I carry it in the cargo pocket of my pants.RangeOver Land test.I was in the cab of a pickup, and my wife in the salon of our 37' fiberglass sailboat. I was only able to get about 800 yards away (straight line) but that was through conifer forest, through a big wood frame building and over a hill that put about 50' of hill elevation between us. Reception was only slightly crackly. We also tried from inside the sailboat to inside a cinder block building, ferrocement roof, metal door & no windows. Distance was about 130 yards and there was no degradation of signal. From both those places, I had previously lost signal from brand name, off-the-shelf GMRS radios.Over Water test. This was done from an open boat to the salon of the sailboat. The only object in line of sight was a wooden barge. I got 3.5 km from the sailboat before transmission/reception degraded enough to start to interfere with the messages. I believe that you could probably add at least another kilometer to that if both handhelds were outside and no barge in the way.I am very pleased with the range of these radios. I would heartily recommend them to anyone who is looking for license free radio communication.
