Eye am an arborist and obviously silky makes some of the best saws in the world. I remember when these where around 160 dollars. So paying this price is awesome!! Ordering from silky distributors are going to be more expensive. Very sharp and very durable but that is to be expected. The locking mechanism into the sheath is awesome and functions very well and makes for easy removal and locking. The 420 is a great length for all types of cutting. I am really satisfied with this purchase. The leg straps are strong and work great. But mostly I just have it hanging from a carabiner. Would recommend to professional tree workers. Some arborist don't like how long the 420 is but I really like the extra reach it has for cutting, pulling etc.

Très efficace et précise, un vrai bonheur de travailler avec. L'ergonomie est agréable et le fourreau très pratique. Certaines pièces plastiques font toque, j'espère que ce n'est qu'une impression.

I bought this saw for my son's birthday. He is using it to make trails on his primitive land. It was recommended by his park ranger friend. He is truly amazed by how well it works on all sizes of trees. He also finds the scabbard very useful as it allows him to have the saw with him whenever he goes out on his land. As he says, "Best birthday present ever!"

This saw makes life easy. Great for climbing to save fuel and avoid starting your heavy saw just to cut those tiny sticks that are in your face or in the way. Nice and long to reach out and get ahold of those hangars and it's nice and silent for those jobs that require a little more stealth. I use it on my motorcycle to do light trail clearing and for firefighting when there's that one stick in the way or smaller tree that needs cut, but you don't want to bother your sawyer or they're far away.

Got a different saw than what the image shows. The teeth cut up the scabbard when drawing/returning the saw but I’m not sure how that’s avoidable. The handle seems a bit flimsy like it could snap where the blade is secured. This sounds like a negative review, but overall it’s a great saw.

Very aggressive teeth make this saw excellent for dead wood and larger pruning cuts. The length gives you that extra bit of reach especially in overhead and limb-walking situations. The scabbard is solid and the saw click into it and stays secure. The saw is a little too long for the leg straps to make sense. But it’s no worry since they will fall apart before you get used to them. For fiber pruning, use a smaller saw with smaller teeth and maybe some flex to the blade. This is a saw that is particularly excellent if you have a challenging climb through dense canopy ahead of you and you don’t want a cumbersome chainsaw hanging off your belt getting caught.

I overall disliked everything about this new model from the start. I have owned two SUGOI 420mm saws in the past of the old model; I absolutely loved them. The NEW Sugoi, however is an inferior product all around; from the steel of the blade, the handle, and the scabbard, they were all changes that were not needed. There is something definitely wrong with the steel of the blade. It is noticeably thicker, but after using it ONCE for less than an hour, the teeth have chipped. The handle has the same coloring, however on the inside, something creates a rattle that cant be tightened by the retainer screws; and that is not even to mention the gaudy shiny painted plastic turn knob for the front retainer screw. The handle also has this stupid notch that pressure fits into a fixed position in the scabbard, while having a gripped push-off on the detachable belt loop (all CHEAP plastic); and the detaching belt loop is made of a thin rubber that will get ate up by the elements, wear, and tear in no time. This saw looks, feels, and cuts like an overpriced kid's toy. Save yourself the trouble and just get the older version, if it is still available; or get the older version of the SUGOWAZA 420.

I bought this saw after it was recommended to me. Wow, what a great piece of kit. It cuts through branches so easily and with little effort needed. Thoroughly recommended and well worth the investment.

I purchased this saw for a couple of reasons. One, we have a lot of fir trees on our property, and some of them have a habit of growing branches out into the road, hindering visibility. I really didn't want to go out there with my chain saw for this type of "pruning", and find that this saw not only replaces a chain saw for smaller tasks, it actually cuts cleaner and better. Very effective and speedy little gadget. :-) My primary reason for buying this particular saw is because it was highly recommended by some serious survivalists as a necessity in any SHTF scenario. I can see why. The saw would make very short work of collecting emergency firewood as well as clearing brush or building a makeshift shelter. In my opinion, it has already proven itself. The performance is way beyond my expectations...and don't let the small size fool you. This is a serious tool that has many important applications and should be in any property owner's or prepper's arsenal. I will (confidently) be purchasing other SUGOI products.

Bought this after a very large plum tree blew over in the February gales. This is a wonderful saw . Bought on basis of online research and consulting reviews. I have a chainsaw and pole pruner. This saw is a great addition to these. It is the best saw l have ever used. It is so sharp, care is needed. Easily and cleanly cuts 9 inch (23cm) branches. I have used it throughout the year taming a neglected garden. It gets where it would be too dangerous to employ a chain saw. It was a " grudge purchase" at the time but l have never regretted this purchase. Highly recommended.

A cottonwood and elm tree were both blown over across a main trail leading through the woods at a local Park. I tried several times to get the park service to have the tree guys clear the trail, but it turns out they will only cut trees that have fallen on the paved trails. So, I did some research online and found out which saws are made for this kind of cutting. I purchased the Silky Sugoi 420 and went to work. It only took about 10 minutes of sawing on each section of the trees, all about 10 inches in diameter. The saw is quite amazing. I thought it would be hard work, but it wasn't. The saw is also very light and easy to carry on a bicycle in its scabbard, so I will carry it with me frequently to keep branches and trees off the hiking/biking/skiing trails.

I clear back-country ski trails in Vermont. This saw is remarkable. It quickly goes through eight inch trees. In a pinch, when a friends chain saw got bound, we have cut a 13" tree to clear it. This is a great alternative to a bow saw. It cuts faster, is easier to get into position for the cut and is much easier to carry. I have had mine five years. I just bought one for my wife. Comparing the two, I do see that her's cuts slightly faster. However, without a direct comparison I would not have thought mine had dulled at all. I intend to use it several more years before replacing the blade. I trail clear about twelve days a year.
