At first I thought I received a defective lid or the bucket I purchased at Lowes was not a standard 5 gallon bucket because I could not get the dang ring to stay on my bucket (I'm calling the first part of the lid that you put onto the bucket the ring). I decided I better look at the previous reviews and/or questions on Amazon to see if anyone else had the same issue installing the lid ring and thank God I did because it's a fairly common problem. It was suggested multiple times to use a rubber mallet to get the ring to seat correctly onto the bucket so that's what I did and it worked!I would recommend these lids because they are well made and the screw-on part of the lid works like it should. Just remember, use a mallet to install the ring and know that once it's on it's on!

Worked well for the purpose I intended. Used it to store animal feed, so I didn't really care about 'air tight' stuff.
