It is the best and most portable book stand I have found on the market. I gave it five star for the design, but the fact that it is not sturdy enought to hold my books safely and my book always leans to the heavy side, and the angle cannot be as close as I need to 90 degrees, I give it somewhere between 3 and 4 stars.Great for lightweight books though but not as great for college heavy books. I suggest the following refinements to be made:1) add book support close to the adge, so it can also handle heavier books, or alternatively move the push pins outward to the middle or close to the edge.2) move the white plate hinge toward the metal support hinge, so the engle can be as close to as 90 degree.Good luck!

I'm really glad I got this. It fits most books, plus it's lightweight and folds up compactly, so it doesn't take up a lot of space. You can adjust the angle and the height. And I haven't had it tip over or show signs of breakage. The only reason I'm dinging it a star is because it doesn't do well with thick books. I just finished a large trade paperback which was about an inch and a quarter thick, and I had to supplement the bookstand with a large binder clip to get it to stay open. But, really, I don't read many of those, and I'm so happy with its sturdiness and compactness that it makes up for the minor inconvenience.

Pros- Small- Light- Portable- Ergonomic folding mechanism- Different viewing angle- Good quality plasticCons- Can't hold large books more than almost 10" in an accurate way (as the back stand is not long enough).- You can fix the pages with 2 small plastic bars but since those are limited to horizontal axis only, it can be hard when leafing a book and it may worn the pages while doing that.- There are 2 prominent pins (maybe for the closing/opening mechanism) which can injur you by accidents if you aren't being careful.• I would recommend it for A5 size books and slightly larger but no more than A4, It can hold heavy book.

I bought this because I got tired of choosing between my two great loves: knitting/crocheting and reading. Obviously, I need my hands to hold open a book, which I can’t do if I’m also using them to knit or crochet, and now I can do both! This appealed to me because it folds up to a small enough size that I can fit it in a bag - whether it’s a large bag, my small purse, or anything in between. You could probably even fit it in your pocket, though depending on the pocket dimensions, part of it may stick out. I am currently in graduate school and have to do a lot of reading for my courses. This book stand makes my reading load that much more enjoyable because I can knit or crochet while I read, which not only gives me something to do with my hands but helps my ADHD brain more easily pay attention to what I am reading. It is pretty sturdy for its small, lightweight, portable size; while it is not designed to be used with large, heavy books, they plainly tell you what size of book for which it best works.

This worked ok, but the metal stand that keeps it propped up, kept popping off. I ended up losing it. I returned it because of this. Good idea, but could be better.

This product makes me really happy because you can tell it was designed with so much thought behind it. When you first open the box it looks just like one bar of something made out of plastic. Read the instructions, and you will soon realize that it opens up like a Transformers toy in to a book holder. Because it's ability to transform, it takes up much less space than your odinary book holders which is why it's so easily portable. The back bar that you can rest your book against actually extends so that you can hold small books as well as large ones. You can also adjust the angle at which to hold your book to.Unfold the small bottom pieces and you can keep the book open at a specific page firmly so you don't lose your spot. This will work for most regular books, but I'd be cautious of really thick, hard-covered text books. It's not stable enough to hold a 700 page text book (which I've tried and it holds up, but not without giving me anxiety), but it worked pretty well up to 400 page text book (stably).Reading through a book and writing notes is so pleasant with this gadget. I love it.
