Tool looks well enough made to serve many years. Your responsibility is to push it straight down into the soil with steady force. Do not screw it into the soil. Give a bit of a twist before pulling it straight up. If you come into contact with a rock or root, stop. If need be, try a different spot. I did some smoothing of the opening for removing the core sample as there was a burr there from the manufacturing. The cutting edge was also cleaned up with a round diamond file.
