Talk about a cool little soldering kit, in my opinion this is the best one as far as the price and the items included this is definitely again my opinion, the best, cheapest way to start soldering!It literally comes with everything you could need or want as a beginner/person new to soldering. You get the soldering iron obviously this one has a display on it and some neat features like variable temperature, temp display, and then a password function that I haven't quite figured out or attempted yet but I don't have much use for that. It comes with six different soldering tips which is super handy, and it will go a long way and adding utility to this product just the potential you have in your hands with this increases exponentially with those extra tips. With the proper tips you could start doing things like plastic welding and all sorts of repairs to household items get on YouTube see what I'm talking about pretty slick stuff and with this kit you can do it all. It also comes with a decent amount of solder wire, flux which is ABSOLUTELY necessary for soldering and the lack of flux is what generally holds people back / makes them think they can't solder, it also comes with a modest stand and cleaning sponge, it comes with a desoldering pump so if you're cleaning solder off of something or you accidentally melt far too much heat it up with a little flux and suck it up with the pump making spillover and non issue and then finally 2 different types of cheaper but very handy tweezers.

This is a great, gift quality, soldering set - perfect to give a young person as their first set. It comes in a great little wood box and has just about every thing you need except a flux, which is actually kind of surprising because this is such a good kit. It looks good and will start a newbie off on the right foot. The instructions are also very hand holding and complete - another very important feature. Since I'm surprised at how complete this is, I'm giving it 5 stars and recommend it as a starter kit for a gift. As soon as I opened the cardboard container and saw this set, I was impressed by the presentation: it arrives in a sturdy wood storage box with a clear lid and plastic insert designed to organize and store each piece in its own slot.Next, as I unpacked the wooden box and looked over and handled all the parts, I appreciated the quality of each piece in the kit and how well they are designed to work together seamlessly.As a beginner wanting to solder for crafty and home diy projects, this is probably more kit than I needed but I think it is generally better to use quality tools to get better results, no matter what level of experience you have.I really like how fast the soldering iron heats up and how easy it is to calibrate the temperature between 356°F and 932°F with just a tap and that the LED display shows the current temperature.I'm not quite sure when and how to to use the 5 additional soldering tips of various shapes but I sure am glad to have them for when the time comes when one or all of them will be just what I need to get the job done right.Even the tweezers are of high quality -- sturdy and with fine sharp tips.Although I am not especially "handy" by any means -- though I sure do admire those who are -- this kit is so solid, of such quality and so well presented in its case that I think this would make a useful gift that any "handy" person would appreciate.

This is a quality, all inclusive kit to get someone started with soldering electronic component. The reason I gave a 4 rating was lack of documentation as to the type and composition of the included spool of solder wire. I assume that it is the standard 60/40 tin/lead composition. It does give the standard P65 California warning but as that is ubiquitous, it doesn't give me any information. Regardless of the health implications, it would be helpful to know the composition as to the melting point and joint characteristics.

I use the box, stand, and the supplies frequently. The soldering iron is great for soldering, but the ceramic heater is slightly too large for what I was going to use it for. Either way it's a great kit, easy to use, and comes with all the supplies you'll need.
