Ever since sony stopped making the cassette player in Japan, the quality went down. I use cassette players for language lesson as I can stop and repeat whereever I want, unlike CD that I have to replay the entire track. Sony product used to last years. This lasted not even a year. I am buying used old cassette players and they are very good. Sony should not have the product made outside Japan.

I used this to transfer around 80 audio cassettes to my computer so I could get rid of the tapes and save space. Overall it worked well and did the job. No tapes were eaten in the process There are only two things that I wish were included in the product. One was some way to adjust bass & treble. Also, I wish there was an AC port so that it can be ran using an AC Adapter instead of running it off batteries. Other than that, it did the job. Now that I'm done transferring my tapes, I'll likely keep it around in case I need a weather or portable FM/AM radio.

this radio has a great sound, good price, plenty of presets. people at work ask me "is that a walkman"? they want one and think its great you can still find them. good job sony. it takes only one dbl A battery, but you wouldn't know it from the power that comes out. its definately above ave. the a.m. and weather ch don't come in great, but the fm ch come in better than the radio in my vehicle. only reason a.m. doesn't come in great is im in a processing facility and im in a thick concrete building. otherwise its great, and the battery for the radio lasts long! its sturdy for a small radio, ive dropped it on marble and concrete floors and no damage, worth every cent

I haven't owned a Walkman since around 1985 so it was fun to see how far cassette technology has advanced since then. Not much I see. This Walkman only requires a single AA battery -- much lighter than the one that needed four AA cells back in the day! The tape speed is incredibly stable. You can shake and spin this thing in every direction and not hear any difference in the playback. It sounds good considering that I'm listening to cassettes I recorded thirty years ago so maybe it sounds even better with recently recorded media. What's most disappointing is how it completely hides the cassette once it's inserted. All of the old Walkmans had a small window so you could see the cassette label and how much tape is on the reels. Not only is there no window, if you open the lid, you see the opposite side of the cassette. You have to pull it out to see the label on the side that you're playing. There is no automatic stop when rewinding or fast-forwarding. Once it hits the end of the tape, it will keep pulling on the tape until you stop it, the battery dies, or the tape breaks. It does stop in play mode fortunately.Of course it has no Dolby noise reduction so my Dolby-C encoded tapes sound a little funny. For a mere thirty bucks, this is good deal if you just want to listen to your old cassettes.

It's a Walkman, it plays tapes and catches a radio signal. It runs on a battery, comes with a case that can be clipped onto your belt loop or your jeans - the product picture does however show a pair of earbuds coming with the Walkman. Mine came with a cheap and painfully uncomfortable pair of on the ear headphones - I couldn't say anything about the sound quality of those as I tossed them and used the pair of over the ear headphones I bought in the same order (see my other reviews). The device works and that is all I expected, if you've ever had a Walkman before then you know what they're like.

Bought this Walkman to extend the use of my otherwise semi obsolete pre-recorded tape collection..........handy when gardening / dog walking etc. The FM/ AM radio is a useful bonus feature. The product shows no sign of being re-conditioned but did arrive somewhat eccentrically packagedand minus a User Manual, which however is easily downloadable from a number of sites. So far am very pleased with both the performance and the very reasonable price of this item.
