The 40017N automatically detects standard voltage in cables; cords; circuit breakers; lighting fixtures; switches; outlets; and wires. The 40012S detects the most common wiring problems in standard receptacles. Batteries and test leads are included.

This kit of 3 electrical diagnosis tools is an EXTREME value. I was in Lowes a couple of days after my kit showed up and if purchased separately at Lowes, this kit would exceed $60. I learned about these tools from Mike Sokol of RV Electricity. Mike writes articles for RV Owners in RV Travel and speaks at RV Rallies to RV owners about how to stay safe with electricity. We assume that the pedestals we plug into are wired correctly and most are; HOWEVER, when one is not, it can be dangerous. This kit allows you to determine if it is or not. Every RV Owner needs one of these kits and use it. During my most recent 4 month trip, I found 2 pedestals that were wired incorrectly and could have done damage or electrocuted me or my family.
